About the company

S&R Seniors Living runs retirement apartments and village communities for older adults who want a private home with daily support close at hand. Its residences span independent living, supportive living and enriched care, with suites designed for different household and care needs. Residents combine accommodation with service packages covering meals, housekeeping, transportation and social activities, while wellness teams manage medications and personal care. The business earns rent and service fees through resident tenancy agreements. Part of the Steeves & Rozema Group, which began in 1963, S&R Seniors Living is based at the group's headquarters in Sarnia, Ontario.

What believers are saying

  • Eligible full-time Sarnia nurses get employer-paid health coverage: the advertised plan has no deductible.
  • S&R advertises pension or registered retirement savings plan matching for eligible full-time Sarnia nurses.
  • S&R has a pricing lever: rent increases reflect staffing, food, utility and maintenance costs.

What critics are saying

  • Overnight work is built into care: S&R's wellness teams keep trained and registered staff available around the clock.
  • Executive director applicants need retirement, residential care or hospitality experience plus prior management or team-lead experience.
  • Demand stays geographically concentrated: S&R's villages operate across Southwestern Ontario rather than a national footprint.

What makes S&R Seniors Living unique

  • Local ownership shapes the business: S&R remains a privately owned Ontario family group.
  • Residents submit service requests directly: S&R's online concierge covers wellness, housekeeping, maintenance and catering.
  • Residents retain flexible leases: S&R uses month-to-month tenancy agreements covering accommodations and service packages.
