As a Technical Director, Personalization ML, you’ll be in charge of the technical vision and execution for all machine learning programs across Personalization teams. The mission of these teams is to connect a billion users with the best connections and content at the right time, covering an extremely diverse range of recommendations and search problems at high scale. This is fundamental to how we personalize the experience to grow engagement and retention for Roblox users. With daily active users growing at a record rate, we are looking for experienced tech leaders who are passionate about designing and building machine learning solutions to power personalized Recommendations and Search.

You Have:

• Battle Ready: You are a world class expert in machine learning with 10+ years of experience and experience delivering and improving large-scale recommendation and search systems. Experienced in designing and building scalable machine learning and search solutions that provide recommendations to millions or billions of users. Break down long-term product requirements into iterative deliverable stages.
  • You have a BS in Computer Science or a related discipline, A Masters or PHD are a definite plus.
• A Leader: You have initiated and facilitated challenging technical decisions across multiple teams and organizations.
• User oriented: While technical, you always start with the needs of the user, whether they are Roblox users or internal engineers.
• Versatile: You have mastered several languages and technologies already and you can adapt to any situation. You solve data problems or machine learning problems when they come up.
• Creative: You take a creative and strategic approach to solving hard problems. You simplify the complex. You bring in fresh ideas from new places.
• A Coach: You raise up others and create an engineering culture of excellence.

You Will:

• Lead the technical direction and implementation for the machine learning solutions that power the recommendation and search systems driving Roblox content distribution.
• Author specs for new features and improvement
• Lead other engineers by example and through technical direction as an individual contributor
• Become an expert on our technology stack and make sure we always build new services the right way
• Balance researching new technologies with a practical approach to accomplish the research efforts into the Roblox products
• Communicate with the industry and communities where applicable and be ambassador for Roblox.
