Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or an equivalent combination of training and experience is required.
  • Five to ten years of construction quality assurance and quality control experience of similar scale and complexity is required.
  • At least three years of experience managing a quality assurance and quality control function in a similar capacity is required.
  • The candidate must have familiarity with a broad range of general construction processes and testing protocols and procedures.
  • The candidate must be familiar with governing specifications including ASTM, ANSI, APWA, and ACI related to construction testing and inspection procedures and processes.
  • The candidate must be able to read and understand construction plans and specifications.
  • The candidate must have strong knowledge of civil, architectural, mechanical, and electrical work.
  • The candidate must be comfortable with Microsoft Office, with proficiency in Excel.
  • The candidate must be able to work effectively and communicate with the project team, subcontractors, consultants, and the owner's representative.
  • The candidate must have excellent organizational skills and be methodical and detail-oriented to ensure project quality control documentation is complete, procedures are followed, issues are closed, and project risks are mitigated.
Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and manage the project quality control program, including quality assurance and quality control functions, procedures, and controls within the organization.
  • Ensure daily quality assurance and quality control responsibilities are performed to support proper coordination and construction meeting project standards and requirements.
  • Provide direct oversight and review of project documentation and inspection phases to ensure coverage and compliance.
  • Supervise inspections, reports, and documentation issued by inspectors, and file required quality records.
  • Monitor quality assurance and quality control program effectiveness and continuously improve the project quality control program as needed.
  • Create, document, and distribute quality assurance and quality control checklists, inspections, punch lists, and reports.
  • Participate in trade pre-installation meetings to verify that each trade is prepared to comply with project quality control requirements before beginning work on site.
  • Coordinate and participate in field inspections to verify that work is proceeding in accordance with contract documents and approved submittals.
  • Conduct regularly scheduled quality assurance and quality control meetings, review deficiency logs and punch lists, and provide documentation and meeting minutes.
  • Monitor construction activities and review materials and equipment delivered to the project for adherence to specifications.

Fortis Construction names new president. Andrea Weisheimer, formerly of DPR Construction and Webcor Builders, will focus on building the Oregon firm's national presence. Fortis Construction, an international contractor based in Portland, Oregon, has named Andrea Weisheimer as president, according to a Jan. 28 announcement. Weisheimer will focus on national growth in the new role, supporting expansion via the firm's Geographic Markets division and advancing client relationships. Prior to her arrival at Fortis, Weisheimer spent over two decades in the construction industry. Her resume includes work for Redwood City, California-based DPR Construction, San Francisco-based Webcor Builders and Seattle-based Lease Crutcher Lewis. Most recently, Weisheimer served as DPR's national EHS integrations and operations leader, per her LinkedIn. "Over the past five plus years [Fortis has] been growing, but more importantly growing with intention. As we look to expand into new regions and deepen our partnerships across the country, we have an opportunity to amplify the impact our teams are already making," Weisheimer told Construction Dive via email. With $2.2 billion in 2024 revenue, Fortis ranked 57th on Engineering News-Record's Top 400 Contractors list in 2025, a measure of the largest contractors in the U.S. by self-reported revenue. In addition to its Portland location, the firm opened an office in Draper, Utah, in 2024, and maintains an additional presence in Singapore.
