Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in exercise science, physical education, or athletic training is required.
  • Certification by the National Athletic Trainers Association is required.
  • A Nebraska athletic training license is required.
  • Basic Life Support certification is required.
  • A driver's license is required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and/or run constantly; sit occasionally; lift up to 100 pounds occasionally from floor to waist; push or pull up to 50 pounds occasionally; and complete up to 13-step staircases occasionally.
  • Ability to reach, stoop, bend, and kneel frequently, with visual acuity, hearing, speech, and manual dexterity within normal limits for age and gender.
Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and treat patients of all ages and diagnoses to restore function and prevent disability due to injury.
  • Document evaluations, treatment sessions, progress reports, physician updates, discharge information, recertifications, and other required documentation accurately, completely, and timely.
  • Perform sports evaluations using the current software application and determine when an injured athlete needs advanced care.
  • Complete evaluations and treatment activities in the clinic, gym, and on the field of play.
  • Modify and update treatment plans to help patients achieve maximal improvement with therapy.
  • Recognize when patients are ready for discharge and develop appropriate discharge plans.
  • Submit daily summary sheets and enter injury evaluation data into the correct spreadsheet in a timely manner.
  • Attend continuing education courses, seminars, webinars, and other education sessions to maintain current treatment techniques and principles.
  • Attend mandatory meetings and complete hospital and department competencies within required timeframes.
  • Mentor students and complete the paperwork associated with having a student.
  • Adhere to rehabilitation billing regulations, productivity targets, progress guidelines, and other standards-of-care requirements.
  • Market athletic training services to potential patients and referral sources through formal and informal methods.
  • Develop, initiate, and lead FAST and/or FIT camps for athletes of varied ages and abilities.
  • Generate FAST/FIT camp reports and market FAST/FIT camps to potential customers.
  • Manage relationships with athletic directors, coaches, and athletes in a positive manner.
