About the job
- A high school diploma or GED, or 10 years of work experience, is required.
- No prior experience is required.
- For work locations in Wisconsin, completion of a medical assistant school or training program or education equivalency for certification is required.
- Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association is required.
- One accepted medical assistant certification or registration is required, including Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, Certified Medical Assistant, Clinical Medical Assistant Certification, Medical Assistant, Medical Assistant Certification, National Certified Medical Assistant, Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant, or Registered Medical Assistant credentials from the listed organizations.
- The role requires constant standing and walking, frequent oral communication, hearing, lifting or carrying objects weighing 0–25 pounds, reaching, gripping, and keyboard or data-entry use, with occasional patient lifting or moving and driving.
- Assist with provider-ordered treatments under the supervision of a provider or registered nurse and perform selected clinical duties.
- Interview patients, measure vital signs, record patient information in charts, and prepare treatment rooms for examinations.
- Perform clerical duties including answering phones, maintaining records, scheduling patients, and filing.
- Order and stock supplies and help maintain a clean and orderly environment.
- Document provider encounters with patients when needed, including diagnoses, symptoms, follow-up instructions, and prescriptions as indicated by the provider.
- Transcribe patient orders for laboratory tests, radiology tests, and medications.
- Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
