Requirements
  • At least 4 years of professional software engineering experience, including prior experience at an early- or mid-stage startup.
  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
  • A proven track record of building performant, data-intensive applications using a strongly typed backend language in a complex domain.
Responsibilities
  • Build, maintain, and scale backend systems as the company grows.
  • Pioneer new features and product areas.
  • Meaningfully influence technical direction as the product evolves, including further integrating artificial intelligence into the product.
  • Contribute to engineering excellence through technical design discussions, code review, and documentation.
  • Work with the current technology stack: Go, Protocol Buffers, PostgreSQL, React, Next.js, Chakra UI, Python data pipelines, and Google Cloud Platform.
  • Build new artificial intelligence features such as Dynamic Pricing, MCP Connection, and AI Email Composer.
  • Improve performance, user experience, and accessibility of consumer-facing checkout flows.
  • Scale and rearchitect backend systems to handle increased user traffic and heavier analytics workloads.
  • Enhance payment processing functionality, including split payments, Pay Later, and fraud prevention.
Desired Qualifications
  • Strong product sense and high customer empathy, with a genuine desire to build the best possible product for users.
  • Thoughtful application programming interface design and database schema/query design experience.
  • Experience integrating backend application programming interfaces with a TypeScript/React frontend.
  • Ability to work independently and own large or ambiguous problem areas.
  • Effective verbal and written communication for technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Experience with online payments, consumer-facing flows, or reporting/analytics for large datasets.
  • Experience building artificial intelligence-enabled features in software-as-a-service products.
