Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of experience and education is required.
  • Five years of experience is required.
  • Experience with postsecondary students is required.
Responsibilities
  • Manage learning and instruction focused on academic-success strategies for underprepared and underrepresented student-athletes.
  • Identify student-athletes' skill sets for college-level work.
  • Design and implement strategic instructional plans for student-athletes underprepared for college.
  • Engage students individually and in small groups in implementing instructional plans.
  • Analyze program effectiveness and recommend improvements.
  • Direct implementation and coordinate new strategies to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Develop and implement learning interventions and study strategies in time management, critical thinking, reading and writing, note-taking, and test-taking.
  • Collaborate with educational-services team members to create programming that prepares student-athletes for exams, including course review and preparation sessions, tutor trainings, and other SASSO initiatives and projects.
  • Support the holistic development of student-athletes across personal, academic, involvement, and professional-development areas.
  • Manage a team of full-time staff members.
  • Manage and create professional-development opportunities for SASSO staff.
  • Manage a daily caseload of student-athletes, including coaching, providing feedback, and addressing performance concerns as needed.
  • Perform other SASSO special projects and assigned duties.
Desired Qualifications
  • Familiarity with NCAA, Big Ten Conference, and Ohio State University rules and regulations.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Experience advising, tutoring, or mentoring collegiate student-athletes.
  • Previous experience teaching at the collegiate level.
  • Experience developing and motivating students for athletic and academic success.
  • Eight to twelve years of relevant experience.
