About the Company

Statkraft

State-owned renewable-energy producer: hydropower, wind

Statkraft is a state-owned energy company that generates electricity from renewable sources. It operates and owns power plants, including hydropower, wind, and solar facilities worldwide, and sells the electricity produced to markets and customers. Unlike many competitors, it remains wholly owned by the Norwegian state and has never had an IPO, which shapes its long-term, public-sector backing. Its portfolio spans Europe, South America, and Asia, with a history rooted in Norway’s hydropower development. The company aims to be a leading provider of environmentally friendly energy in Europe and to expand its renewable generation globally through reliable, large-scale projects.
