  • U.S. citizenship or nationality is required.

  • Fluency in English and Spanish, including reading, writing, and speaking, is required.
  • The candidate must pass a comprehensive background investigation and drug screening.
  • The candidate must be able to obtain and maintain required security clearances and credentials, including SIDA and TWIC as applicable to the contract.
  • A valid driver's license, preferably REAL ID compliant, with a clean driving record is required.
  • The candidate must possess a personally owned vehicle capable of safely transporting a working canine.
  • The candidate must maintain canine housing that meets company standards for safety, cleanliness, climate considerations, and security, and must comply with canine care, housing, and welfare policies.
  • A minimum of 3–5 years of supervisory or management experience in a K9 operations environment is required.
  • Experience with explosive detection canine handling, training methodology, and decoy or scent work is required.
  • Familiarity with TSA, DHS, or equivalent commercial cargo and physical security regulations is required.
  • The candidate must be able to exercise sound judgment in high-responsibility environments.
  • The candidate must be able to work independently and collaboratively within team-based operations.
  • The candidate must be able to handle and control a working canine weighing 50–90 pounds.
  • The candidate must be able to stand, walk, patrol, and work on foot for extended periods.
  • The candidate must be able to bend, kneel, lift, and carry equipment and canine-related supplies.
  • The candidate must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, humidity, rain, and cold.
  • The candidate must be able to work in loud, crowded, or confined environments such as ports, vessels, stadiums, and event venues.
  • The candidate must be available for rotating shifts, including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours.
  • The candidate must complete a recognized third-party explosive detection canine certification, provided or coordinated by the company if required.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily operations for local and regional K9 explosive detection screening teams across multiple sites.
  • Conduct compliance audits, canine proficiency assessments, and inventory checks to align with state, federal, and company standards.
  • Prepare handlers and canines for mandatory regional and national re-certifications.
  • Coordinate schedule logistics, event-based deployments, and emergency response coverage for clients.
  • Mentor, evaluate, and support site trainers and K9 handlers to ensure consistent execution of training protocols.
  • Direct local training operations and ensure realistic, safe, and rigorous explosive odor detection scenarios.
  • Onboard new handling teams and implement corrective training plans when proficiency gaps are identified.
  • Coordinate security efforts with venue managers, corporate security directors, and aviation and cargo stakeholders.
  • Evaluate program health with executive leadership, analyze deployment data, and identify areas for regional expansion.
  • Ensure service delivery meets contract service-level agreements and corporate security standards.
  • Travel frequently between operational sites and client venues across Florida.
  • Travel occasionally out of state for corporate summits, major event deployments, and specialized training or auditing seminars.
Desired Qualifications
  • Prior experience as a Security K9 Handler, Military Working Dog handler, Law Enforcement K9 handler, or private-sector detection handler.
  • Experience in cargo, maritime security, large venues, special events, or executive protection.
  • Familiarity with third-party explosive detection canine certification standards, including 3PK9.
  • A REAL ID-compliant driver's license is preferred.
