Requirements
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing, or a Master of Nursing or Doctor of Nursing Practice in lieu of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
  • A minimum of three years of related clinical nursing experience.
  • Considerable knowledge of complex medical terminology and advanced disease processes.
  • Ability to delegate to appropriate personnel.
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborative relationships internally and externally.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to rapidly prioritize and reprioritize.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and in teams.
  • Critical-thinking skills and the ability to multitask.
  • Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state.
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification or American Red Cross Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification.
  • Ability to perform the required physical functions, including standing, sitting, walking, lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds unassisted, and exerting up to 50 pounds of force.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts and overtime as required.
  • Ability to work in a latex-safe environment.
  • Ability to maintain required visual, hearing, tactile, and sensory functions.
  • Ability to deal effectively with stressful situations.
  • Ability to be physically qualified for respirator use, initially and as required.
Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized assistance to oncology patients and caregivers to help overcome healthcare system barriers.
  • Use the nursing process to promote informed decision-making and timely access to quality patient care.
  • Provide a vital communication link between multidisciplinary providers internal and external to the Medical University of South Carolina during initial treatment planning.
