  • Hands-on experience with RNA and/or lipid nanoparticle production processes and related standard analytical methods, including UV-Vis spectroscopy, gel electrophoresis, ELISA, dynamic light scattering, and RiboGreen.

About the company

Strand Therapeutics develops programmable, long-acting mRNA therapeutics that aim to treat cancer and other life-threatening diseases. The product works by delivering mRNA engineered with logic-based circuits that sense disease-specific cell signals and activate only in diseased cells, increasing the therapeutic window and reducing harm to healthy cells. This enables multi-functional treatments with targeted action rather than non-specific delivery. The company differentiates itself by its programmable mRNA platform that combines gene-encoded logic with disease targeting to achieve cell-type–restricted activity, potentially allowing for safer and more precise therapies compared with conventional mRNA approaches. Strand Therapeutics pursues collaboration and partnerships to expand its programs and generate revenue through development and commercialization of its proprietary mRNA therapeutics with healthcare providers and institutions.

What believers are saying

  • August 2025 Series B raised $153 million from Kinnevik, Regeneron, Amgen, and Lilly.
  • April 2026 hired Kunal Bhatia as CFO to accelerate capital formation and partnerships.
  • STX-003 is slated for mid-2026 clinic entry after 2025 ASCO validation.

What critics are saying

  • STX-001 remains early Phase 1/2, with only 22 patients enrolled by April 2025.
  • Programmatic mRNA delivery still faces off-target expression and repeat-dosing risks.
  • If STX-003 or in vivo CAR-T miss human efficacy, Strand loses its platform thesis.

What makes Strand Therapeutics unique

  • Strand's EverScript circRNA and LNP logic circuits target diseased cells, not healthy tissue.
  • STX-001 produced a confirmed complete response in 2025 advanced solid tumors.
  • ASGCT 2026 data showed in vivo CAR-T generation in nonhuman primates.

Strand Therapeutics names Kunal Bhatia CFO following $153M Series B

Strand Therapeutics has appointed Kunal Bhatia as Chief Financial Officer to lead corporate strategy and capital formation as the Boston-based biotech scales its programmable mRNA platform. Bhatia will oversee finances, capital raising and strategic partnerships, reporting to CEO Jake Becraft. Bhatia brings approximately 15 years of investment banking experience, having worked on fundraising, business development and mergers and acquisitions for over 100 biopharmaceutical companies. He previously served as interim CFO and Chief Business Officer for private life sciences firms and was a Managing Director at Cowen's Healthcare Investment Banking Group. The appointment follows a $153 million Series B round led by Kinnevik, with participation from Regeneron Ventures, Amgen Ventures and Eli Lilly. Strand is advancing its lead candidate STX-001 in advanced solid tumours.
