Requirements
  • A completed or in-progress post-secondary diploma, certificate, or bachelor's degree in helping relations.
  • One to two years of psychosocial intervention experience, particularly supporting women in difficulty.
  • Knowledge of community resources and the health and social services network.
  • Proficiency with Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Fluency in spoken and written French and intermediate spoken and written English.
  • The selected candidate must undergo a satisfactory criminal background check as a condition of employment.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct admissions and provide welcome, integration, and support to women during their stabilization process.
  • Respond to participants’ basic needs during their stay.
  • Listen to participants and build trusting relationships with them.
  • Liaise between participants and public institutions, frontline workers, and government services.
  • Support participants’ well-being and peaceful cohabitation and encourage their participation in L’Abri’s community life.
  • Help ensure the safety of women and their children, when applicable, through presence and timely interventions.
  • Manage crises and resolve conflicts.
  • Manage and distribute medication according to L’Abri’s policies.
  • Answer the phone, provide information, and direct people and participants to appropriate resources.
  • Maintain files, statistics, and related documents.
  • Assist with receiving participants’ stay payments, when applicable, and follow up on overdue payments.
  • Participate in meetings, conferences, or training sessions at the employer’s request.
  • Ensure compliance with L’Abri d’espoir’s policies and procedures.
  • Provide administrative support to management and/or program services.
  • Perform other related duties as requested by the supervisor.
  • Carry out the role’s responsibilities in accordance with the Salvation Army’s mission, vision, values, and L’Abri d’espoir’s local statement of commitment, professionally and ethically.
Desired Qualifications
  • Knowledge of additional software is an asset.
  • Knowledge of a third language is an asset.
  • A current workplace first-aid certificate (CSST) is an asset.
