Requirements
  • Strong academic standing with a B or higher achieved in two or more of BBH 301W, BBH 310, BBH 411W, and BBH 440.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Interest in creating community and providing resources for peers in the BBH program.
  • Comfort using Zoom and online scheduling tools such as Starfish.
  • Availability to work a minimum of one evening shift per week.
  • Submission of an updated resume, contact information for three professional references including one academic reference, and a statement of interest or cover letter.
  • Successful completion of background checks in accordance with University policies.
Responsibilities
  • Host a minimum of one evening drop-in session per week in the BBH Student Center, with shifts scheduled between 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM or 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM.
  • Provide academic assistance, answer student questions, and offer guidance on assignments and course material for BBH courses.
  • Offer up to three additional hours weekly for one-on-one Zoom appointments when sessions are booked.
  • Review and provide feedback on assignments submitted to the shared inbox when no students attend scheduled shifts.
  • Create academic resources and run exam review sessions.
  • Plan and execute community-building initiatives and events.
  • Conduct focus group research.
  • Support the peer mentoring program.
  • Communicate with BBH students through social media and other applications.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in two or more of BBH 301W, BBH 310, BBH 411W, and BBH 440.
  • Prior experience in peer tutoring, mentoring, or academic support is strongly preferred.
  • Experience or willingness to learn how to provide technical support for programs and applications commonly used in BBH courses such as SPSS.
  • Experience or willingness to learn how to use communication and design tools such as GroupMe and Canva.
  • Experience or willingness to further develop tutoring skills by attending Study Smarter workshops and other development opportunities offered by the university or department.
