The Birmingham-headquartered construction firm received the contract last week with a total cumulative face value of nearly $987 million, according to the Department of War. Under the award, Brasfield & Gorrie will design and construct four separate facilities for component remanufacture, missile maintenance, painting and storage. Work will be performed in Anniston and is expected to be completed by Aug. 30, 2030. The Army received two bids for the project following an online solicitation. The full $658.2 million awarded Thursday was obligated at the time of the award using fiscal 2026 military construction funds. The Army Mission and Installation Contracting Command at Fort Sam Houston, Texas, is the contracting activity. Brasfield & Gorrie was founded in Birmingham in 1964 and remains headquartered in the city. The privately held general contractor also has a Huntsville office and works across the country in construction management, general contracting and design-build services. The project is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2028.
