Requirements
  • Must have graduated from an approved Medical Assistant-Certificate program and have a current Medical Assistant Certified license issued by the Washington State Department of Health.
  • Must be MA-Certified or possess an MA-Interim License and pass the exam within the 90 day probationary period.
  • This position must obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR within 90 days of hire date and maintain current BLS CPR throughout employment.
  • Annual influenza vaccine required, with medical or religious exemption option and masking during flu season.
  • Pre-hire and annual employee health screening required.
  • Pre-hire health screening required; annual employee health screening required.
  • Must adhere to Sea Mar Employee Health Screening Policy.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain required immunizations per Sea Mar policy.
  • Must be able to work and travel to other Sea Mar sites as needed.
Responsibilities
  • The MA is the person who is responsible for ensuring that ALL patient clinical measures are being addressed and will do so by doing thorough EHR reviews, tracking and documenting all clinical measures/outcomes for patients in EHR.
  • Seeing 18/21 patients per day with an assigned provider as well as reaching out to patients who have care gaps.
  • Coordinate and process all patient referrals, for both internal and external services; work closely with Referral Coordinators.
  • Be team oriented and work collaboratively with all care team members to provide the best outcomes for the patients and the organization based on the Patient-Centered Medical Home model of care.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served; growth and development over the life span.
  • Identify the patient’s clinical needs according to diagnosis and follow clinical guideline according to protocol.
  • Pre-Huddle preparation and participation in the Care Team Huddle; collection of clinic forms, lab and x-ray reports; review of Patient Manager and Medication confirmation process.
  • Prepare the patient for their visit with the Care Team; obtain subjective information and vital signs.
  • Ensure documentation of all relevant information, care provided and processes engaged in, in accordance with Sea Mar protocol.
  • Prepare exam and procedure rooms by stocking supplies and disinfecting per protocol.
  • Administer IM, Subcutaneous and intradermal injections; administer oral, rectal, inhaled medications as ordered; document medication administration per protocol.
  • Maintain and reconcile medication and immunization data/list; maintain professional standards and follow treatment policies.
  • Attend regular staff meetings and in-service training; respect cultural diversity; maintain infection control; follow safety policies.
  • Assist providers with GYN exams, I&Ds, and other minor procedures; assist with ordering of department supplies; support pod/flow systems; ensure HIPAA and confidentiality; AIDET customer service; handle incoming clinical calls; communicate provider delays; manage bio-hazardous waste; assist with pharmacy requests; obtain laboratory tests and results; obtain patient notes from hospitals; maintain relationships with co-workers and community; ensure eligibility for point of care referrals; learn and use EHR, Practice Management Applications, and other listed systems; travel to other sites as needed.
  • Complete all performance metrics: prepare to deliver 18-21 patients per day; 21 patient visits average for MD and 18 for ARNP/PA; follow My Health enrollment; close chart notes within 24 hours.
Desired Qualifications
  • Ambulatory care experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and write proficiently in English.
  • Ability to speak and interpret in Spanish preferred.
  • Must demonstrate strong customer service skills.
  • Must be able to interact with diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience in Family Medicine preferred.
  • Excellent problem solving abilities.
  • Must be computer literate; proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook; learn SharePoint, Arcadia, OneHealth Portal, HealthPlanFinder, electronic health records, EKG monitors, retinal cameras and other technical resources as needed.
  • Fully proficient with Sea Mar’s patient management and electronic health records systems before end of probationary period.
