Requirements
  • Six years of progressively responsible experience in Automated People Movers or mass transit rail systems design and/or operation; a master's degree may substitute for two years of required experience.
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary engineering and design projects and coordinating engineers, architects, consultants, contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Skill in administering engineering and construction consulting contracts and serving as a project manager and Contracting Officer's Technical Representative.
  • Knowledge of Automated People Mover system design, construction, operation, testing, commissioning, regulatory requirements, technical standards, design criteria, building codes, and related requirements.
  • Ability to review engineering designs, technical specifications, shop drawings, contractor submittals, construction documentation, and test procedures for compliance with design intent, system requirements, codes, standards, and contract requirements.
  • Ability to speak and write effectively.
  • Skill in using computer and office suite software, a project management information system, and other engineering software.
  • A bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • A state driver's license in good standing.
  • Ability to obtain an airport badge through a required background security investigation.
  • Ability to operate vehicles landside and airside, requiring an Air Operations Area permit.
Responsibilities
  • Manage Automated People Mover system expansion design projects, including long-term planning, design coordination, construction support, and project delivery.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to establish system requirements and design criteria, coordinate project activities, and resolve technical, operational, and construction-related issues.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for Automated People Mover systems and provide technical guidance and recommendations to Office of Engineering leadership and project stakeholders.
  • Prepare or recommend engineering studies and design improvements and incorporate applicable industry best practices into system design, construction, and operation.
  • Develop, maintain, and update Airports Authority design standards, guidelines, system requirements, and design criteria for Automated People Mover systems.
  • Review contract design firms' work for technical accuracy, compliance with Automated People Mover standards, constructability, operational suitability, and industry best practices.
  • Review construction progress reports, shop drawings, material lists, samples, and other contractor submittals to verify consistency with design intent and project requirements.
  • Lead or support testing, Operational Readiness, Activation, and Transition, and commissioning for Automated People Mover expansion projects.
  • Coordinate requirements with stakeholders and verify that systems, equipment, documentation, training, and operational requirements are complete and ready for transition to airport operations.
  • Serve as a Contracting Officer's Technical Representative on Automated People Mover-related projects and studies.
  • Monitor contractor performance and verify deliverables comply with contract requirements, quality standards, and Airports Authority goals for Small Local Business Enterprises.
  • Stay current on regulatory requirements, including Transportation Security Administration regulations and guidance, Customs and Border Protection technical standards, Federal Airfield navigation aids and communications, and building codes as applied to electronic systems.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
