About the Job

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in thermal/mechanical engineering, with a P.Eng designation or similar professional designation.
  • High proficiency using CAD and simulation software, such as Solidworks and Celsius EC, to create detailed mechanical designs and drawings and predict and optimize performance.
  • A solid understanding of fluid dynamics principles, especially as they relate to heat transfer and fluid flow in cooling systems.
  • Proven ability to design components for mass production using varied manufacturing methods and engineering principles, including statistical tolerance analysis, GD&T, FMEA, DFM, and DFA.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities focused on data-driven decision-making.
  • Experience conducting experiments, analyzing results, and iterating designs based on findings.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of custom passive coldplate loops and rack and chassis manifolds using thermal and mechanical engineering principles, including heat transfer, fluid dynamics, ergonomics, and manufacturability to optimize design outcomes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and customers to integrate products into overall cooling system designs and execute projects effectively.
  • Oversee product fabrication and testing, conduct experiments, collect data, and iterate designs to achieve desired thermal and mechanical performance.
  • Review designs and drawings produced by junior team members, provide feedback on mechanical and thermal designs and drawing best practices, and approve engineering drawings for manufacturing and assembly.
  • Develop engineering documentation, reports, and technical presentations to communicate design concepts, testing outcomes, and recommendations to internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Use CAD, simulation tools, and engineering principles in mechanical and thermal design of cooling products, and drive new product introduction efforts from concept to mass production.

Desired Qualifications

  • A master's degree in a relevant thermal or fluid dynamics field is an asset.
  • Experience in a mass production environment is an asset.
