Requirements
  • Education and training sufficient to obtain a California Occupational Therapist license.
  • Current California Occupational Therapy license.
  • American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support certification.
Responsibilities
  • Facilitate the development and rehabilitation of patients with impairments, functional limitations, disabilities, or changes in physical function by planning and administering occupational therapy treatments.
  • Perform thorough evaluations of activities of daily living skills and the needs of people receiving services.
  • Set measurable objectives in conjunction with the rehabilitation team.
  • Plan treatments to assist patients with physical reconditioning and coordinate the plan with members of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Help people receiving services understand their needs and limitations and how to manage them to improve function.
  • Recommend or design special adaptive equipment to improve function in home, community, and work environments.
  • Plan retraining programs and train staff and family members to carry out retraining programs involving dressing, feeding, grooming, and personal hygiene.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with patient populations that include neurological, orthopedic, and medical conditions.
  • National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy certification.
