Leica and Cognex launch AI software module Aivaro to improve inspection. Defect detection package aims to boost reliable fault identification in production. 30 September 2026 Leica Microsystems, a developer of microscopy and scientific solutions, and machine vision systems manufacturer Cognex, have jointly announced Aivaro AI Feature Detection, an AI-powered software module that automatically identifies, classifies and measures defects and other features of interest during inspection. Integrated into Leica's Enersight software platform, the new module can help production managers and engineers standardize inspection, improve efficiency and scale deployment across production environments. "Manufacturers need a practical way to improve inspection consistency and productivity," said Nicolas Pierre, Vice President and General Manager Life Science and Applied Solutions at Leica Microsystems. "By integrating Aivaro AI Feature Detection into the familiar Enersight platform, we are helping quality teams perform routine inspection tasks more efficiently, standardize workflows, and support consistent inspection decisions across sites and with more confidence." Building on industry-proven vision software AI technology from Cognex, Aivaro AI Feature Detection offers consistent detection, classification, and measurements during routine quality control. Previous microscope settings and imaging parameters can be easily reproduced to support efficient and standardized inspection workflows. The system also enables reporting of statistical values, such as minimum, maximum, and average measurements, providing additional information for quality control decisions. Aivaro AI Feature Detection offers a ready-to-train base model, requiring only five to ten images, minimizing the effort needed to develop and train AI models, enabling rapid deployment. Inspection processes can be standardized and scaled across users, workstations, and production lines, reducing inspection time and operational costs. AI-supported onboarding makes it easy to bring new users up to speed. This solution enables manufacturers to maintain full control of inspection decisions while using AI models directly on the production floor. Running on standard hardware and processing data locally on-site, it eliminates the need for cloud connectivity and expensive hardware. The solution is compatible with a wide range of Leica solutions. Aivaro AI Feature Detection supports diverse manufacturing environments, including electronics, battery production, transportation, medical devices, and chemistry and polymer processing, helping companies to increase efficiency and make reliable decisions during inspection.

Cognex launches a new wafer reader designed to help semiconductor manufacturers increase their production. Sep 23, 2026, 09:10 ET In-Sight 1750(R) helps chip manufacturers maintain production capacity and product quality as demand for advanced semiconductors continues to grow Natick, Massachusetts, September 23, 2026 /PRNewswire/ - Cognex Corporation (NASDAQ: CGNX), the global leader in industrial machine vision technologies, today announced the launch of the In-Sight(R) 1750 Series wafer and panel identification system, a next-generation system designed to help semiconductor manufacturers reduce interruptions, improve traceability, and maintain production capacity. As semiconductor manufacturers expand production capacity to meet the needs of AI infrastructure, advanced computing, and next-generation electronics, the ability to accurately track wafers throughout the production process is becoming increasingly important. Even a small number of missed reads can cause delays, increase workload, and harm equipment yield. The In-Sight 1750 helps manufacturers overcome these challenges by reliably reading many complex markings and identifiers on wafers and panels, including various degraded markings and difficult substrates that often require intervention. Building on Cognex's long-standing leadership in wafer identification, this system combines Cognex's latest AI innovations, advanced imaging technology, and lighting specially designed to help manufacturers ensure traceability and production capacity in demanding semiconductor industry environments. The result: fewer interruptions, more consistent process control, and greater confidence in manufacturing operations. "Investments in AI infrastructure are driving a new wave of expansion across the semiconductor industry, and chip manufacturers are being called on to bring new capacity online faster than ever, while meeting the strictest quality standards," said Matt Moschner, CEO of Cognex. "The In-Sight 1750 combines our latest artificial intelligence technology with decades of semiconductor expertise to help manufacturers increase production without compromising quality or traceability." Key benefits for customers * More reliable wafer traceability, helping manufacturers ensure quality and process control throughout manufacturing and packaging steps. * Fewer production interruptions, reducing the need for operator intervention and manual troubleshooting. * Faster upgrades, enabling current users to move from previous-generation systems to the new system without extensive redesign. * Better equipment utilization, enabling manufacturers to maintain production capacity even when they must read difficult marks on complex wafer and substrate materials. The In-Sight 1750 is designed to integrate seamlessly with existing processes. By incorporating advanced artificial intelligence capabilities into a wafer identification platform developed through decades of semiconductor experience, this system helps manufacturers improve traceability and production capacity without requiring major changes to existing processes. Designed specifically for current In-Sight 1740 users, it supports job conversion and streamlined upgrades, helping manufacturers move to the next generation of wafer identification with minimal disruption while taking advantage of Cognex's latest AI-based features. A new online configuration interface simplifies setup and allows users to be up and running quickly, while the built-in measurement logging function facilitates quality control and process monitoring. Cognex Corporation is expanding its AI-powered machine vision technology across data centres, semiconductors, electronics, packaging and logistics. Chief Financial Officer Dennis Fehr told Morgan Stanley's 14th Annual Laguna Conference that the company's In-Sight 3900 and OneVision tools can train models in the cloud whilst running inspections on-device. The company reported strong market growth, including more than 40% expansion in China this year. Adjusted EBITDA margins have risen from 17% in 2024 to approximately 30% guidance for this year. Cognex's technology helps customers inspect products, identify parts in production, measure items and guide robotic arms. Logistics remains the largest end market, alongside semiconductors, packaging and electronics. The company is targeting applications previously handled by human inspection or unsolvable with traditional machine vision.
