About the job
- Two years of education from a college or university and two years of experience in a child-caring facility, or a high school diploma or equivalent and five years of experience in a child-caring facility.
- Maintain a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- Submit to federal and state background and fingerprint checks.
- Submit to pre-employment and random drug screenings.
- Maintain required training, including CPR/First Aid and Safe Crisis Management.
- Maintain Office of Refugee Resettlement-required vaccinations.
- Be able to stand, walk, sit, climb stairs, kneel, crouch, lift up to 25 pounds, and participate in crisis response activities consistent with program requirements.
- Manage the daily operation, supervision, safety, and programming of an assigned living unit within the Caminos Shelter Program.
- Directly supervise Youth Care Associates and ensure compliance with Kentucky United Methodist Homes, Board of Child Care, and Office of Refugee Resettlement policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Promote a trauma-informed, culturally responsive environment that supports the safety, well-being, stabilization, and successful adjustment of unaccompanied children.
- Coach, guide, and mentor direct care staff through ongoing observation, weekly Cottage Meetings, and monthly supervision.
- Maintain high-quality programming and foster a safe and therapeutic milieu.
- Ensure staff consistently implement trauma-informed practices that support positive youth development and recovery from complex trauma.
- Monitor operational compliance through routine quality assurance activities, including weekly audits of activity logs, review of off-campus activity requests and safety assessments, and verification that programming adheres to Office of Refugee Resettlement requirements.
- Conduct daily walk-throughs of living units, bedrooms, and common areas to ensure they remain clean, organized, child-safe, and welcoming.
- Use standard office equipment and remain actively engaged within client living areas.
- A bachelor's degree in a Human Services-related field.
- Bilingual English/Spanish.
