Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree and two years of experience in human resources administration, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Basic knowledge of human resources laws, principles, practices, and trends.
  • Basic knowledge of research methods and data analysis techniques.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to use a personal computer and related hardware and software for communication, information, data and record management, and reporting.
  • Ability to analyze, interpret, and apply laws and policies.
  • Ability to conduct research, analyze information and data, and present findings and recommendations concisely.
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively with people across a variety of backgrounds and cultures.
Responsibilities
  • Administer the University's Compensation Program by applying its philosophy and evaluation techniques, including analyzing jobs, updating job descriptions, compiling and analyzing wage and salary data, and assisting with complex job reviews, grade evaluations, special projects, and initiatives.
  • Monitor, assess, and reconcile compensation-related compliance issues.
  • Work collaboratively with Human Resources Business Partners to review and respond to departmental compensation needs and issues.
  • Perform job studies, including assessing organizational structures, classifications, and salaries.
  • Analyze proposed job and personnel actions for compliance with guidelines and standards.
  • Evaluate, analyze, and edit descriptions for new and revised positions; consult with Human Resources Business Partners to review descriptions for adequacy and advise on needed corrections.
  • Participate in administering complex job studies and special projects.
  • Collect and analyze annual and other salary and wage rate surveys, comparing University rates and relevant data with comparable employers.
  • Prepare reports, charts, and graphs summarizing data.
  • Respond to surveys about salary, wage, and other policies, practices, and statistics.
  • Conduct audits to determine compliance with applicable University policies and practices and federal and state labor laws.
  • Independently determine the significance of audit findings, recommend resolutions, and coordinate reconciliation of potential compliance issues.
  • Participate in University compliance programs and initiatives for compensation-related federal and state labor laws.
  • Participate in implementing and applying approved general wage and salary structures.
  • Provide counsel and advice on compensation actions and annual wage and salary increases, and monitor actions for compliance with established wage and salary guidelines.
  • Follow up with other Human Resources offices to resolve problems within established limits.
  • Assess current policies, procedures, and guidelines and recommend additions or revisions as appropriate.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • One year of experience in human resources compensation program administration.
