Requirements
  • A Master’s degree and 2 years of professional experience are required; ABD or PhD in a related discipline is also accepted.
  • The candidate must be able to teach about American Congress and possess broader knowledge of American government and political institutions.
  • The candidate must be comfortable interacting with students of varying backgrounds and abilities and provide appropriate guidance and support regarding coursework.
Responsibilities
  • Deliver in-class instruction on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:10 to 3:30 for POLT 505 American Congress.
  • Offer 1–2 hours per week of office hours for students outside class time.
  • Prepare the course syllabus and coordinate books and reading materials with the bookstore.
  • Maintain the course in Canvas.
  • Grade student work.
  • Respond to email queries from students, department faculty, and staff.
  • Complete administrative tasks associated with the course and communicate with the Chair and staff regarding University of New Hampshire policy or course management.
Desired Qualifications
  • Prior teaching experience is preferred.
  • An ABD or PhD in Political Science or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Teaching certification and/or experience, particularly with advanced high school or college students, is preferred.
