Requirements
  • Right to work in the United Kingdom or Ireland.
  • A Master’s degree (achieved in the last two years or expected) in Fire Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace/Aeronautical, or Physics.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English.
Responsibilities
  • You will be responsible for the fire engineering analysis of exciting projects involving new and existing buildings.
  • You will work on a wide range of buildings such as high-rise office buildings, large retail complexes and airport developments, each providing unique challenges in developing an innovative fire engineering strategy.
  • You will be tasked with analysing fire growth, means of escape, structural fire resistance and smoke control by various methods including computer modelling software such as Computational Fluid Dynamics.
  • The preparation of technical reports and liaising with our clients, who include some of the largest building developers in the country, is an important part of your role.

  • Enthusiasm to innovate.
  • A second European language is an advantage but not essential.
  • We’ve successfully welcomed graduate fire engineers from a variety of STEM Master’s backgrounds, including Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace/Aeronautical, and Physics.

Jensen Hughes acquires Safety Management Services to expand energetic materials expertise

Jensen Hughes, a global fire and life safety engineering firm, has acquired Safety Management Services (SMS), a Utah-based specialist in process safety and energetic materials consulting. Financial terms were not disclosed. Founded in 1998, SMS provides process hazard analysis, energetic material testing, facility design for explosives operations, OSHA compliance and risk management services to commercial clients and government agencies including national laboratories. The company also manufactures testing equipment for energetic materials and has completed projects across the US, Europe, the Middle East, India, South Korea and Australia. The acquisition marks Jensen Hughes' second deal in 2025. The company, which operates from over 100 offices globally with 1,800 staff, is backed by middle-market private investment firm Gryphon Investors.
