Requirements
  • Knowledge generally acquired through a high school education or GED.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • Completion of a Nurse Aide Certification course or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certified Nurse Assistant certification issued by the California Department of Public Health is required.
  • Current Basic Life Support/Healthcare Provider status according to American Heart Association standards is required.
Responsibilities
  • Perform basic patient care activities according to patients' age-appropriate and developmental needs.
  • Observe patients and report changes in condition to the Registered Nurse.
  • Assist with patient admission, discharge, and transfer.
  • Answer call lights and respond appropriately.
  • Straighten patients' rooms, change linens, and perform routine department tasks.
  • Transport patients as appropriate and provide care during transportation.
  • Order supplies for patients and replenish stock.
  • Use positive communication skills to resolve conflicts and support teamwork.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Monitor use of time, equipment, and supplies to contribute to cost-effective patient care.
  • Comply with safety policies and procedures for employees, patients, and visitors.
  • Adapt to changes in hospital or department activities.
  • Participate in achieving departmental goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
