Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, such as Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, Optical, Aerospace, or Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • At least 5 years of experience in product lifecycle engineering, manufacturing engineering, or process development managing complex projects in precision manufacturing operations.
  • A systems engineering mindset with the ability to understand technical interactions and trade-offs across mechanical, optical, electrical, and thermal disciplines.
  • Proficiency with computer-aided design software such as SolidWorks and CREO, product lifecycle management systems, Excel, MATLAB, Python or equivalent data analysis tools, tolerance analysis, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, and technical root cause analysis.
  • Experience with precision manufacturing processes such as computer numerical control machining, optical assembly, electronics integration, cleanroom operations, adhesive bonding, or environmental testing including thermal cycling, vibration, and thermal vacuum testing.
  • Hands-on technical experience supporting the full product lifecycle, including new product introduction, production ramp, sustaining engineering, process optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Project management experience in a Department of Defense or space environment, including familiarity with aerospace qualification standards and environmental testing requirements.
  • Ability to translate high-level technical direction into actionable engineering guidance and align technical priorities with available resources and ongoing work.
  • Lean or Six Sigma experience applied to manufacturing process improvement and sustaining operations.
Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with research and development, design, manufacturing, test, quality, and operations teams to ensure design for manufacturability and design for assembly for multidisciplinary system assemblies.
  • Drive manufacturing readiness for new products by leading pilot builds, IQ/OQ/PQ process validations, customer-facing operational readiness reviews, and production transfer activities in compliance with ISO 9001 and internal quality systems.
  • Own end-to-end manufacturing process development, optimization, documentation, and lifecycle management, including process flows, work instructions, manufacturing routings, bills of materials, tooling specifications, and equipment requirements.
  • Lead product lifecycle phases from new product introduction planning through production ramp, sustaining operations, continuous improvement, and end-of-life management while managing schedules, budgets, and resource allocation.
  • Develop and manage project plans with schedules, milestones, risk assessments, and mitigation strategies across multiple simultaneous projects.
  • Translate high-level product and engineering requirements into actionable technical direction for manufacturing, operations, and production personnel, and identify gaps, conflicts, and integration risks.
  • Perform technical troubleshooting and root cause analysis during new product ramp-up and rate production across mechanical, optical, thermal, and electrical subsystems.
  • Develop and lead operator training strategies for production readiness, including procedures for precision assembly, contamination control, and system-level verification.
Desired Qualifications

  • Deep expertise in optical systems, precision mechanical assemblies, electronics integration, thermal management, or control systems.
  • Knowledge of space qualification standards such as NASA, MIL-STD, and ECSS, with experience manufacturing space-grade hardware.
  • Experience with satellite systems, optical or laser communications, aerospace instrumentation, or multidisciplinary space payloads.
  • Familiarity with engineering analysis tools such as finite element analysis, ANSYS, Abaqus, thermal simulation, Zemax, Code V, or electrical simulation.
  • Project Management Professional certification.
  • Lean Green Belt or Six Sigma certification.

What is the purpose of the New center? The facility is intended to support production, delivery, training, customer acceptance testing and onsite storage for CACI's Terrestrial Layer System Brigade Combat Team Manpack, or TLS BCT Manpack, program with the U.S. Army. TLS BCT Manpack is CACI's electronic warfare technology for dismounted soldiers, designed to support operations in the electromagnetic battlespace.
