Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • At least 3 years of experience designing, developing, implementing, and integrating mechanical systems.
  • Experience with moderate to complex product and/or program management.
  • Experience in product design from concept through production, including cross-functional processes such as engineering change control.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and executing mechanical product design with little or no supervision.
  • Ability to lead teams that may be globally co-located.
  • Proficiency with Failure Modes and Effects Analysis, Root Cause Analysis, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, Tolerance Stack Analysis, and Design for Manufacturing and Assembly.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with technical and non-technical team members, including giving direction and presenting the business value of initiatives to leadership.
  • Ability to coordinate efforts with internal business partners, technology teams, external suppliers and consultants, and service providers.
Responsibilities
  • Define mechanical system requirements and specifications to meet customer, marketing, and internal stakeholder needs.
  • Use Failure Modes and Effects Analysis, Root Cause Analysis, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, Tolerance Stack Analysis, and Design for Manufacturing and Assembly to evaluate and mitigate requirement risks early in the design process.
  • Ensure designs meet system requirements through appropriate verification methods.
  • Develop design documentation, 3D models and drawings, and instructions for manufacturing and product test requirements.
  • Work with engineering disciplines in a cross-functional design environment, including Manufacturing Engineering and Operations.
  • Define design trade-offs to optimize product performance and quality while considering product cost, manufacturability, and available technologies.
  • Coordinate development timelines and track activities to meet delivery and cost commitments.
  • Provide technical leadership for cross-functional teams when assigned.
  • Lead design reviews and supplier reviews when assigned.
  • Develop technical documentation, manage product changes, and support process development or enhancement when assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with Pro-E or Creo.
  • Experience with manufacturing processes such as roll forming, press brake, sheet metal stampings, machining, welding, and rapid prototyping.
  • Experience with sheet metal design, Creo, Solidworks, Windchill, Finite Element Analysis, industry standards and validation, value analysis and value engineering, and designing for harsh environmental conditions.
