Requirements
  • At least 7 years of experience running projects in the communications cabling industry.
  • Ability to work on ladders and use power tools.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and set up a 50-pound ladder.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to own, maintain, and use required communications technician hand tools.
  • Knowledge of applicable codes and standards.
  • Ability to complete and submit accurate work-progress documentation, including timesheets and related documents.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Responsibilities
  • Direct and manage cabling crews.
  • Build out telecommunications closets.
  • Install cable support systems, including cable tray, J-hooks, and ladder tray.
  • Install Category 6 horizontal station cable, backbone cable, fiber-optic cable, and inner duct.
  • Install special-systems, security, closed-circuit television, audiovisual, and fire-alarm cable.
  • Terminate Category 6 horizontal four-pair work-area outlets using modular connectors and terminate multimode and single-mode optical fiber with LC and SC connectors.
  • Perform copper splicing and fusion or mechanical fiber splicing.
  • Perform copper cable testing, including unshielded twisted pair and coaxial cable testing, and optical-fiber testing.
  • Troubleshoot copper and optical-fiber systems.
  • Maintain company-required communications technician hand tools in good operating condition.
  • Travel as required.
Desired Qualifications
  • Data-center experience.
  • Wireless surveying and installation experience.
  • BICSI Certified Technician Installer 1 or 2 certification in copper and/or fiber.
  • Other manufacturer certifications.
  • Certifications such as Occupational Safety and Health Administration or confined-space certifications.
