Requirements
  • For the Nuclear Performance Improvement Specialist level, a bachelor's degree and at least four years of related experience are required; alternatively, a high school diploma or GED and at least eight years of related experience may be accepted.
  • For the Senior Nuclear Performance Improvement Specialist level, a bachelor's degree and at least eight years of related experience are required; alternatively, a high school diploma or GED and at least 12 years of related experience may be accepted.
  • The candidate must possess all basic/required qualifications.
  • The candidate must be able to work lawfully in the United States without employment-based immigration sponsorship, now or in the future.
  • The candidate must live within a reasonable daily commute, no greater than 50 miles one way, of the assigned work location.
Responsibilities
  • Implement performance improvement programs, organizational effectiveness functions, and associated activities, including improving the efficiency of these tools.
  • Manage and support cross-functional meetings by providing quality information reviews and reports for routine senior-management performance-improvement meetings.
  • Provide on-site oversight and support of the performance-improvement model during performance-improvement meetings.
  • Maintain the integrity of performance-improvement programs by meeting routinely with functional-area performance-improvement contacts and learning-program coordinators to identify and analyze site performance data and adverse trends using the Observation Program, CAP, self-assessment, benchmarking, operating experience, and performance-indicator data.
  • Recommend issues that meet the threshold for the Performance Improvement Matrix.
  • Participate in external and internal assessments, benchmarking, and continuous learning of performance-improvement programs.
  • Provide training on performance-improvement programs and support fleet-wide performance-improvement and organizational-effectiveness initiatives.
  • Establish high standards for promoting performance-improvement and organizational-effectiveness programs at the site and across the fleet.
Desired Qualifications
  • Familiarity with nuclear performance-improvement processes.
  • At least six years of on-site plant experience.
  • At least six years of demonstrated experience in performance-improvement programs, such as performance assessment, performance improvement, organizational effectiveness, learning programs, INPO assessments, licensing, CAP, self-assessments, benchmarking, or operating experience.
  • Proficiency in business computer applications.
  • Proficiency in CAP and Asset Suite.
  • Experience observing and assessing behaviors in an organizational setting.
  • Nuclear plant operating knowledge.
  • Experience designing and managing software analysis applications.
  • Team and meeting facilitation skills.

Duke Energy cuts Eastern NC and Asheville rate increase from 15.1% to 9.3%

Duke Energy Progress has agreed to reduce its proposed rate increase for customers in eastern North Carolina and the Asheville area from 15.1% to 9.3% over two years. The average residential customer will pay an additional $9.62 per month starting January, plus $5.89 more beginning January 2028. The settlement also caps Duke's return on equity at 9.8%. This follows significant pushback from state leaders and customers after Duke Energy reported $5 billion in profits in 2025 and over $1 billion in net income last quarter. The North Carolina Utilities Commission will review the proposal starting 11 August, with a final decision expected this autumn. Duke Energy Carolinas previously lowered its rate increase to 9.5%. Both Duke utilities will merge into one by 1 January 2026.
