Requirements
  • At least 7 years of relevant legal experience at a top law firm and/or in-house, including at least 5 years focused on privacy.
  • Demonstrated experience building, operating, or leading a privacy compliance program, not solely providing advisory work.
  • Deep, current knowledge of global privacy and artificial intelligence frameworks, including the General Data Protection Regulation, United Kingdom General Data Protection Regulation, California Consumer Privacy Act and California Privacy Rights Act, European Union Artificial Intelligence Act, and United States state privacy and artificial intelligence laws.
  • Familiarity with cross-border data transfer mechanisms, including standard contractual clauses, the International Data Transfer Agreement, adequacy decisions, and the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.
  • Working knowledge of privacy-program operational components, including data protection impact assessments, privacy impact assessments, records of processing activities, data mapping, data subject rights processes, privacy by design, and vendor or third-party risk management.
  • Technical proficiency in using artificial intelligence tools to build skills, agents, and other automated tasks.
  • Capacity to work as a legal generalist and learn new areas of law and legal skills quickly.
  • Deep understanding of cloud and software technology and interest in working on related legal issues.
  • Juris Doctor degree from a top-tier law school.
  • Membership in a state bar in good standing.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time and client expectations amid competing demands, often without direct guidance.
  • Ability to assess risk and provide concise, actionable, business-focused legal advice and counsel.
  • Ability to build working relationships with internal stakeholders across multiple geographies and functions and work with distributed teams.
  • Ability to operate independently and interact confidently with senior management while influencing without authority.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple cross-functional projects with minimal supervision.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to explain complex privacy and regulatory concepts to legal and non-legal audiences, including executives.
Responsibilities
  • Advise on compliance with global privacy and data protection laws, monitor legal and regulatory developments, and translate them into actionable business guidance.
  • Build and mature the privacy program to meet evolving regulatory expectations, including contributions to artificial intelligence governance.
  • Develop core privacy-program components for data subject rights requests, privacy notices, consent management, privacy impact assessments and data protection impact assessments, and policy management.
  • Conduct gap analyses and risk assessments, including data protection impact assessments, privacy impact assessments, and transfer impact assessments, to identify, assess, and help mitigate privacy risk.
  • Support the organization's records of processing activities.
  • Draft and update form agreements and counsel on and negotiate data protection provisions in commercial contracts, including data processing addendums, standard contractual clauses, and related data-transfer instruments.
  • Develop and maintain internal privacy policies, external privacy notices, and standards.
  • Design and deliver privacy training and awareness programs.
  • Help operationalize privacy and artificial intelligence governance frameworks and cross-functional privacy committees.
  • Build cross-functional relationships and collaborate with legal leaders in commercial, go-to-market, compliance, corporate, and public affairs on privacy issues.
  • Exercise practical judgment about when to approve, approve with conditions, decline, or escalate.
  • Provide general legal support across other areas of the business as needed.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience working for a company offering platform services to business customers.
  • Familiarity with privacy-management tooling such as OneTrust or comparable tools.
  • One or more privacy certifications, such as CIPP/E, CIPP/US, CIPM, CIPT, or FIP; CIPM is particularly valued for a program-leadership role.

Databricks hires ex-AWS executive to lead Asia partners amid 85% growth

Databricks has appointed former Amazon Web Services executive Briscoe to lead its Asia Pacific & Japan partner organisation. She previously headed AWS's partner operations in the region and held similar roles at Microsoft and Cisco. The move supports Databricks' regional expansion. In April, the company named Simon Davies as regional leader and reported over 85% year-on-year growth in its fourth quarter. It now has more than 1,500 employees across Asia Pacific & Japan and plans to establish headquarters in Singapore. Databricks works with over 1,000 partners regionally and 8,000 globally through its Brickbuilder Partner Network. The company's AWS business has surpassed a $1 billion run rate. Coatue leads $3B Databricks investment at $134B valuation

Coatue Management is reportedly leading a $3 billion investment in Databricks, according to recent reports. The data analytics company previously raised roughly $5 billion earlier in 2026 at a $134 billion valuation. Databricks sells a lakehouse platform combining data lake and data warehouse capabilities and has expanded into AI software for enterprise applications. The company reported $5.4 billion in revenue run rate in February, up over 65% year on year, which grew to $6.9 billion by June. The earlier financing round included $2 billion in debt capacity intended to fund AI products, acquisitions and employee liquidity. At its current valuation, Databricks exceeds Snowflake's market capitalisation of approximately $83 billion. Management has indicated the company may remain private until market conditions improve.
