- Help the Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.

↑ 20%Dollar Tree Coming to former Swedesboro Rite Aid; hiring starts, signage going up. Dollar Tree is continuing its South Jersey expansion, with the discount retailer taking over the former Rite Aid location in Swedesboro. Located at 335 Village Center Drive along Center Square Road, the former pharmacy sits between McDonald's and Wendy's, just a short distance from Route 295. Workers arrived earlier this year to begin clearing out the former Rite Aid and preparing the building for a new retail tenant. For several months, however, there was no official confirmation regarding which retailer was moving in. That has now changed. Dollar Tree recently posted job openings for the new Swedesboro store on its official careers website, confirming the retailer's plans for the property. And today, as I was working on this article, a local resident captured photos of installers putting the Dollar Tree logo signage on the building. The photos were shared with 42Freeway with permission. Dollar Tree expanding into former Rite Aid stores. The Swedesboro location continues a growing South Jersey trend of Dollar Tree taking over former Rite Aid pharmacy buildings. Following Rite Aid's bankruptcy and widespread store closures, many of the former pharmacy locations have attracted interest from other retailers. Rite Aid stores were often positioned in highly visible locations within established residential and commercial areas, making the vacant buildings attractive to new tenants. 42Freeway has recently covered new Dollar Tree stores taking over former Rite Aid locations in Blackwood, Stratford and Mullica Hill. Another Dollar Tree is also expected to open soon in a former Rite Aid in Barrington. Other retailers are jumping in on the former Rite Aids including Autozone in Williamstown and soon Clayton. Swedesboro now joins that growing list as a new Dollar Tree... and I know there are many others I didn't mention! Dollar Tree Swedesboro location. The new Dollar Tree at 335 Village Center Drive will be positioned in the heart of a busy residential and commercial area. Numerous local and national retailers and restaurants are located nearby, while one of South Jersey's largest office parks sits just across Route 295. The surrounding Woolwich and Swedesboro area has also experienced significant residential growth. When I visited the former Rite Aid on May 31, construction crews were still clearing out remnants of the pharmacy operation, with discarded materials being loaded into a large dumpster positioned in front of the store. At the time, I was looking for evidence that could confirm the identity of the new tenant, as rumors had already been circulating regarding the property. The strongest confirmation arrived just a few days ago when I spotted Dollar Tree job listings specifically tied to the Swedesboro address. Then today, a 42Freeway follower messaged me to say someone had posted photos in a local community group showing Dollar Tree signage being installed on the former Rite Aid building. With hiring underway and exterior signage now going up, it appears the new Dollar Tree Swedesboro store is moving closer to opening... but I do not have a timeframe just yet. Now hiring - Swedesboro. 3 big changes that shoppers are noticing at Dollar Tree in 2026. Dollar Tree grew into one of the biggest franchises in America based on the business model of selling everything for $1. In 2019, the framework changed with the introduction of value items for $3 and $5. By 2022, base prices were raised from $1 to $1.25 for the first time in the company's history, with some slightly higher price points settling around $1.50 or $1.75. Now, in 2026, the company has just over 9,000 stores, and more changes are on the way that will affect how people shop at Dollar Tree in the future. From home products you'll use every day to party supplies for a variety of occasions, Dollar Tree has always been a place to find affordable items. But the relatively recent price increase is not the only change affecting these storefronts. There have been significant alterations in locations, with some stores closing and new stores popping up in unexpected places. But with the wider range in pricing, new features are being introduced in stores - like price scanners - to help shoppers adjust to the transition. So what's switching up at Dollar Tree in 2026? Continued changes to the Dollar Tree pricing model. In 2019, Dollar Tree introduced a multi-price model in certain locations, though the exact number was not disclosed in the annual report. In 2026, the company announced that it would be expanding the number by around 630 to reach a total of approximately 5,900 multi-priced stores by the end of the year. But don't worry, you'll still be able to find affordable Dollar Tree items to organize your house or supply your next DIY project. There is no indication that standard product prices are increasing in 2026. The official press release did not mention the actual range of prices that customers can expect to see coming in 2026, but current trends show prices remaining under $10 per item. Multi-priced stores include a range of items, including many of your favorite Dollar Tree products that outshine HomeGoods, Walmart, and Amazon in price and quality. In the past, most items are priced between $1.25 and $1.50 depending on the store, with higher priced items being limited to $3 or $5. However, recent reports show that higher priced "value" items can now reach up to $7. Changes in store locations. Earlier this summer, Dollar Tree announced that it would be closing 75 store locations nationwide. But the closure of those stores doesn't mean that Dollar Tree is on a downward trend on the whole. In fact, based on their announcements, expansion seems to be the name of their strategic game. In a press release from May 2026, Dollar Tree announced the opening of a new distribution center in Arizona, designed to improve the flow of products to more than 700 stores in the Southwest. But that's not all; it also opened 113 new stores during the first quarter of 2026, with plans to open a total of 400 during the entire fiscal year. In other words, the closing of several stores hasn't stopped Dollar Tree from planning a massive expansion. The closings appear to be a calculated move to establish a more favorable position and address current demand in the market. Price scanners. As more items are introduced with varying prices, Dollar Tree has provided a new feature for customers to help avoid confusion and streamline the shopping process: price scanners. The addition of these digital pricing devices has received quite a bit of interest on social media. Many people express concern over what the price scanners mean for the prices going forward, while others recognize that this move may improve the offerings at the store. One user on Reddit says, "Those things are a real waste because nobody uses them," while another replied, "We have three DTs in my area. One of them had a scanner for a very short time several months ago and I used it. I wish all stores had them." It's not just in-store devices, though. Price scanners are also available on the new Dollar Tree app. The app is designed to improve not only the in-store experience, but also the Dollar Tree shopper experience at home. Dollar Tree coming to Huntley. August 04, 2026 at 12:13 pm CDT A new Dollar Tree store is coming to Huntley. The Village Board recently approved plans for the dollar store south of Regency Parkway and on the east side of Route 47, which is on the Kane County side of town. The store will be going in next door to Tommy's Car Wash in the Huntley Crossings shopping center. The store is expected to be 10,134 square feet. While board members generally liked the concept, they had some issues with the design, including the store's signs. Charlie Nordman, the village's director of development services, said the Dollar Tree sign has been modified to stick out a little better. Two wall signs, one on the front and one on the back, are proposed, as well as a monument sign on the northwest corner of the parking lot. The wall signs are 101 square feet each and the monument sign is 10 feet tall, with a brick base and "surround" to match the building, Nordman said. Elevations of the building were similar to what officials saw in February, and red brick is the primary building material, he said. There is a private access drive to the east of the store and primary access is on the northeast and southeast corners of the property. Nordman said accessible parking spaces were relocated to be closer to the front entrance. He also said bollards will be installed at the front with the ADA-accessible parking spaces and there is a condition that Dollar Tree add more bollards adjacent to the front entrance. When the board recently approved it, trustees thanked Dollar Tree for listening to the feedback they gave. Trustee Marilynn Berendt said she liked the look of the building, especially with the red brick and the gray. She said she liked the green "that's setting off the signage." Dollar Tree representatives thanked Huntley for having them after the vote. The company was not immediately available for further comment Monday. "I didn't want to jump the gun before it was official, but welcome to Huntley and thank you for your interest in our community," Village President Tim Hoeft said after the vote.
