Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science in Nursing is required.
  • A Florida Registered Nurse License is required.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Certification is required.
  • Basic Life Support Certification is required.
  • Completion of the Oncology Nursing Society Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Administration Guidelines provider course is required.
  • ONS/ONCC certification is required and can be obtained before the start date.
  • A minimum of 2 years of nursing experience is required.
Responsibilities
  • Assess assigned patients, evaluate care plans, document nursing care, and report symptoms, condition changes, and vital signs.
  • Modify patient treatment plans according to patient responses, conditions, and physician orders.
  • Review, evaluate, and report diagnostic tests to assess patient condition.
  • Consult with physicians and other healthcare professionals to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
  • Prepare patients for and assist with examinations, procedures, and treatments.
  • Account for patient age and culture during treatment and provide information about the treatment plan.
  • Provide psychological support and maintain a compassionate care environment.
  • Perform appropriate patient tests and safely administer medications within the scope of practice.
  • Maintain accurate records of medications and treatments according to regulatory requirements, policies, procedures, and physician orders.
  • Communicate the plan of care promptly to patients, families, and appropriate team members in compliance with regulatory guidelines, including HIPAA.
  • Use available resources to assist with discharge planning.
  • Plan, prioritize, and adjust assignments to accomplish goals and provide patient care, seeking assistance when needed.
  • Safely operate medical equipment.
  • Serve as a preceptor and assist new staff in providing care and acclimating to the healthcare environment and direct patient care role.
  • Adhere to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguard University assets.
