  • Demonstrated success building and deploying applications in financial services, banking, or capital markets domains.
  • Proven experience leading technical implementations and mentoring other engineers in a senior individual contributor capacity.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Advanced degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field is preferred.
  • Engineering Principles: deep, practical knowledge of designing for cloud readiness, including microservice architecture, 12-Factor App principles, and modern design patterns.
  • Development Methodologies: proven experience championing Spec Driven Development (SDD), Test Driven Development (TDD), and Domain Driven Design (DDD) within an agile environment.
  • Core Backend Stack: mastery of modern Java (JDK 17/21) and the Spring Framework (Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data JPA, Spring Cloud).
  • Frontend Technologies: hands-on experience with modern UI frameworks like Angular, using TypeScript/JavaScript to build intuitive user interfaces.
  • Databases: strong hands-on experience with both relational (Oracle, SQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB) databases.
  • DevOps & CI/CD: proficiency with modern CI/CD pipelines (Harness, Jenkins), containerization with Docker, and container orchestration platforms, specifically OpenShift and Kubernetes.
  • AI-First Expertise: practical hands-on experience using and integrating AI development tools (e.g., Devin, GitHub Copilot, Claude, Codex) into the software development lifecycle for tasks like code generation, debugging, and documentation.
  • Strategic Mindset: strong understanding of concepts underpinning modern AI tools (LLMs, prompt engineering, Retrieval-Augmented Generation–RAG, MCP, A2A) and a clear vision for leveraging them to transform engineering productivity and quality.
Responsibilities
  • AI-Augmented Solution Design & Implementation: Lead the end-to-end design, architecture, and hands-on implementation of complex, full-stack applications. Strategically embed AI-powered tools (e.g., Devin, GitHub Copilot, Codex) to accelerate development, automate complex tasks, and validate architectural patterns.
  • Champion Elite Engineering Craftsmanship: Drive a culture of quality through the disciplined application of Spec-Driven Development (SDD) for clear planning, and Test-Driven (TDD) / Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) for flawless execution. Use AI to generate intelligent test cases and automate quality gates.
  • Architect for Scale and Resilience: Provide deep expertise in modern application architecture, designing for cloud readiness by applying 12-Factor App principles and microservice patterns to build scalable and resilient systems.

ScotPac closes $300M ABS transaction, raises nearly $1B in two and a half years

ScotPac has completed a $300 million asset-backed securitisation transaction, its third ABS issuance and largest to date. The deal was structured to meet UK and European Securitisation Regulation requirements, broadening the lender's access to international capital markets. Citi served as arranger, with Citi and NAB as joint lead managers. The transaction brings ScotPac's total ABS funding to nearly $1 billion over the past two and a half years. CEO Jon Sutton said it reinforces the company's commitment to supporting SMEs with flexible funding solutions during volatile economic times. The deal attracted strong demand from existing investors and new UK and European-based participants. ScotPac has been diversifying its funding platform, having secured a warehouse facility with UBS in March alongside launching a new asset-based finance solution.

Banks report strong profits but warn of rising energy prices hitting consumers

America's largest banks reported strong first-quarter profits driven by robust investment banking activity and a resilient economy, though executives warned about mounting risks from rising energy prices and geopolitical uncertainty. JPMorgan Chase posted a profit of $16.49 billion, up 13% year-on-year, whilst Wells Fargo earned $5.25 billion and Citigroup reported $5.79 billion. Investment banking fees surged, with JPMorgan seeing a 30% jump and Citigroup a 12% increase in advisory fees, fuelled by market volatility and corporate dealmaking. However, JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon cautioned about "an increasingly complex set of risks", including wars, energy prices and trade tensions. Wells Fargo noted customers allocating more spending to petrol whilst cutting discretionary purchases, signalling potential downstream economic impacts from elevated oil prices.
