Requirements
  • The candidate must be certified or eligible for certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers, the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Sonography, or Cardiovascular Credentialing International.
  • Sonographers must obtain certification within one year of the hire date or cross-training.
  • The candidate must be certified in cardiopulmonary resuscitation or obtain certification within 90 days of employment.
  • Sonographers must comply with the continuing-education requirements of the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers, the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, or Cardiovascular Credentialing International appropriate to their practices.
  • Vascular technologists must hold certification in vascular technology from the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers, the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, or Cardiovascular Credentialing International.
  • Breast ultrasound technologists must have current breast-sonography registration through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers or post-primary certification and current registration through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, or certification and current registration through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists with Mammography Quality Standards Act qualification.
  • Breast ultrasound technologists must have five continuing-education units specific to breast ultrasound.
  • Breast ultrasound technologists must be certified in cardiopulmonary resuscitation or obtain certification within 90 days of employment.
  • Breast ultrasound technologists must regularly perform breast ultrasound examinations.
  • Registered technologists must comply with the continuing-education requirements of their certifying organization for the imaging modality in which they perform services, including credits pertinent to their American College of Radiology-accredited clinical practice.
Responsibilities
  • Operate ultrasound scanning equipment to produce records of designated portions of the human anatomy for infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
Desired Qualifications
  • Graduate from an accredited school of Ultrasound Technology.
  • Prior experience in ultrasound.
