Crosby is a hybrid AI-driven legal service that speeds up contract review by combining artificial intelligence with oversight from licensed attorneys. It focuses on high-volume, routine contracts such as MSAs, DPAs, and NDAs, delivering turnarounds under an hour. The platform uses AI agents to analyze documents, flag risks, and draft initial redlines, which are then reviewed and finalized by human lawyers to ensure quality. Crosby operates through two entities: Crosby Legal PLLC (performing legal work) and Crosby Legal, Inc. (building the AI technology). The system integrates with common business tools like Slack, email, and CRMs, allowing contract submissions in the tools teams already use. It also builds a dynamic legal knowledge base that remembers a client’s preferences and negotiation stances to improve efficiency over time. The goal is to help fast-growing companies scale legal operations and reduce friction in sales cycles while keeping legal quality and managing costs.

Crosby releases Redline Bench to test AI's legal contract review skills

Crosby, a startup-law firm hybrid, has released Redline Bench, a tool measuring how well AI models perform real-world legal tasks like contract review. The company aims to create a standardised benchmark for evaluating AI legal work, addressing a key challenge in the industry: defining what constitutes good legal output. The benchmark uses weighted criteria developed by senior lawyers who simulated software deals and marked important contract changes. When tested, models receive the same contracts and their edits are compared against the lawyer-built rubric by a panel of judges. Initial results showed ChatGPT 5.5 scoring highest at 50.5%, followed by Gemini 3.5 Flash at 45.1% and Claude Opus 4.8 at 44.4%. Redline Bench will be publicly available for any lab to test their models, with Crosby planning regular performance reports.
