About the job

Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalency certificate is required.
  • A bachelor's degree and at least 1 year of experience in manufacturing scheduling, planning, or operations, or at least 3 years of professional experience in those areas in lieu of a degree, is required.
  • At least 1 year of experience using enterprise resource planning or material requirements planning systems in a production environment is required.
  • Availability for all shifts, extended hours, and weekends as needed is required.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds unassisted is required.
  • Ability to stand for at least 8 hours is required.
Responsibilities
  • Take ownership of production scheduling for a production work center, including day-to-day tasks and projecting long-term rate needs for the department.
  • Create a rate-based schedule for assigned hardware and define and track constraints across builds for upcoming missions.
  • Use the established schedule to develop scenarios and obtain stakeholder buy-in to determine hardware allocation between new and refurbished hardware, considering customer needs, the current mission manifest, and customer quality requirements.
  • Work with production teams to set, track, and execute daily and weekly work-center goals that account for personnel and equipment constraints while supporting overall rate targets.
  • Build relationships with customers and internal and external suppliers, and establish accurate communication of estimated hardware needs and completion dates.
  • Understand material requirements planning requirements and logic for assigned hardware, and lead cross-functional efforts to improve material requirements planning accuracy and align targeted and actual schedules.
  • Manage scheduling and prioritization of assigned hardware at shared resources across departments; negotiate priorities with peers and seek solutions that support the overall business outcome.
  • Use SQL queries and Excel databases to identify hardware shortages for upcoming builds and bring needed hardware into the production area.
  • Identify, develop, and implement opportunities to automate scheduling across the Dragon department and reduce manual schedule development, tracking, and updates.
  • Reduce near-term and future schedule risk by conducting work-center capacity analyses, identifying models and communication gaps that cause schedule slips, and leading initiatives to mitigate risks.
  • Investigate root causes and develop permanent resolutions for issues found during product builds to remove internal and external blockers to on-time delivery; drive discussion of assembly-level and integration misalignment.
  • Identify and support improvements to product yield, quality, safety, cost, and team efficiency.
Desired Qualifications
  • Technical knowledge and skills in coding and computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite, VBA, Smartsheet, SQL, Confluence, Jira, and Power BI.
  • A track record of implementing continuous improvement efforts, ideally using problem-solving frameworks such as lean principles, Six Sigma, or Kaizen concepts.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary and cross-functional teams working on strategic problems.
  • Project management professional certification.

About the company

SpaceX builds and launches reusable rockets and spacecraft for NASA, the military, and companies, and it runs Starlink, a satellite internet service for homes and businesses. In 2020, its Dragon capsule became the first privately built spacecraft to carry astronauts to the International Space Station. Its Falcon 9 rocket lands its first stage so the booster can fly again, which cuts launch costs, while Starlink beams internet from low-orbit satellites to small dishes for a monthly fee. SpaceX also owns xAI, maker of the Grok chatbot and owner of the social network X, and is building Starship, a fully reusable rocket meant to carry people to the Moon and Mars. Elon Musk founded SpaceX in 2002, and it is based in Starbase, Texas.

Musk predicts SpaceX annual revenue of $500B to $1T by end of 2027

SpaceX chief executive officer Elon Musk expects the company's annual revenue to reach at least $500 billion by the end of next year. He made the forecast during the company's third quarter earnings call. Musk said annual recurring revenue by the end of 2027 could fall between $500 billion and $1 trillion. He said SpaceX will deploy Grockbot at scale for enterprise customers, so companies can use it in teams as though it were a virtual human. Some trusted customers already use an early version, and he expects wide deployment within a few weeks. Musk added that Grockbot may end up using most of the company's superintelligence compute.

Musk pledges SpaceX shares to every US child, a day after Anthropic's 5% fund

Elon Musk said on X on Monday that next year he would give every child in America one SpaceX share. He called the donations "the first of many." The post drew over 33 million views in a day. President Donald Trump thanked Musk for his "incredible generosity." No plan has emerged. Musk did not explain the pledge on SpaceX's Tuesday earnings call, where the company reported a 161% rise in revenue from a year earlier. He hinted the shares could go through the new "Trump Accounts" program, which CNBC said may limit when recipients can sell. The pledge came one day after rival Anthropic announced a "Public Benefit Fund" and plans to donate 5% of its shares to it. Musk suggested Anthropic give shares "directly to the public," then said four hours later, "This is what I will be doing.
