Requirements
  • A High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • A valid New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, or Pennsylvania driver's license with six points or fewer is required.
  • Experience working with adults who have developmental disabilities is required.
  • A strong commitment to safety is required.
Responsibilities
  • Ensure appropriate supervision and the health and safety of individuals, and implement the Individual Plan of Protective Oversight.
  • Advocate for individuals in the community, including at medical appointments, church, and recreational activities.
  • Ensure that each individual's plan of care is implemented.
  • Administer individual medication as prescribed.
  • Assist with daily living skills, including personal hygiene, food preparation, housekeeping, laundry, and shopping.
  • Maintain the facility in compliance with Office for People With Developmental Disabilities and Council on Accreditation standards.
  • Facilitate individuals' learning and skill training in fire safety.
  • Implement and document individuals' goals.
  • Complete daily progress notes and other individual logs.
  • Maintain updated certifications in cardiopulmonary resuscitation, first aid, Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention, and Approved Medication Administration Personnel.
  • Provide an atmosphere conducive to positive behavior.
  • Observe and report regressive or unusual behavior and work cooperatively with clinical staff.
  • Plan and prepare balanced meals.
  • Clean and maintain the residential unit.
  • Assist individuals with purchasing groceries, clothing, hygiene supplies, and other needed items.
  • Attend appropriate workshops, trainings, and meetings.
  • Assist in providing spiritual development.
  • Assist in providing ethical and moral values.
  • Transport and escort individuals to recreational activities, medical appointments, and home visits.
  • Assist in developing social skills.
  • Remain on shift until relief arrives.
  • Complete job-related tasks as needed.
Desired Qualifications
  • Approved Medication Administration Personnel, Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and first aid certifications are preferred.
