  • Board certification or board eligibility in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine is required.
  • Medical licensure in Delaware, or the ability to obtain Delaware licensure with an appropriate medical staff appointment, is required.
  • Strong clinical skills and a commitment to high-quality patient care are required.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills are required.
Responsibilities
  • Provide evidence-based inpatient care for patients across a wide variety of medical conditions.
  • Conduct daily rounds, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of hospitalized patients.
  • Manage patients' care throughout the inpatient stay, including diagnostic testing, procedures, care coordination, utilization, and discharge planning.
  • Communicate with patients, families, and primary care physicians regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and progress.
  • Coordinate care across specialties and collaborate with consultants and other healthcare professionals.
  • Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, quality assurance studies, and corrective actions.
  • Serve on medical staff committees as requested by medical leadership or administration.
  • Prepare regular reports on inpatient services, including transfers, referrals, and consultations.
  • Participate in problem solving, budget preparation, strategic planning, survey preparation, and other administrative matters.
  • Follow departmental policies, medical staff bylaws, quality improvement and safety objectives, environmental standards, and infection control standards.
  • Provide input to administration regarding non-physician staff and duties related to inpatient services.
  • Supervise, teach, and mentor medical students, resident physicians, and fellows during clinical rotations.
  • Deliver bedside teaching, case presentations, and didactic learning.
  • Develop and deliver educational curriculum for medical students, resident physicians, and fellows.
  • Provide timely feedback and assist learners with career development.
  • Complete formal written evaluations through the approved residency management suite.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, the Clinical Competency Committee, the Program Evaluation Committee, academic meetings, conferences, and workshops.
  • Attend didactics and present lectures throughout the year.
  • Participate in resident recruitment, interviewing, selection, and ranking in collaboration with residency program directors.
  • Participate in scholarly activity projects with medical students, resident physicians, and fellows.
  • Participate in faculty development activities.
  • Communicate regularly with residency program directors regarding resident academic progress and with medical education leadership regarding academic-service workflow and operations.
Desired Qualifications
  • At least one year of experience teaching and mentoring medical students, resident physicians, and/or fellows is strongly preferred.
  • Evidence of scholarly activity, including research publications or presentations, is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment are preferred.
