Requirements
  • Licensed Practical Nurse.
  • Current active Idaho state licensure.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification or the ability to obtain certification within one month of hire.
  • Medical office experience is required.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the position.
  • Ability to stand, sit, remain mobile, use hands and fingers, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, lift up to 25–40 pounds occasionally, and use a keyboard effectively.
  • Ability to hear, see, speak, and read.
  • Ability to solve complex practical problems.
  • Positive interpersonal, communication, and persuasion skills over the phone, computer, and in person.
  • Ability to simultaneously manage several objectives and assign priorities.
  • Ability to deal with a wide variety of variables where limited standardization exists.

  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines with strong organizational skills.

  • Ability to complete required safety training, participate in emergency response tasks and safety committees as requested, follow safety instructions, report or correct hazards, and provide feedback on safety issues.
  • Ability to work in a clinic environment exposed to contagious diseases, physical injuries, and varied emotional states.
Responsibilities
  • Assist physicians with direct and indirect patient care and follow-up in a clinical setting.
  • Interview patients and obtain complete vital signs, including a pain score, at each visit.
  • Prepare patients for clinic appointments and bring patients to examination rooms upon arrival.
  • Assist physicians with patient examinations and treatments.
  • Perform charting and clerical work as necessary.
  • Oversee phone prescriptions and refills to pharmacies.
  • Perform triage of patient phone calls to identify emergent and non-emergent situations.
  • Perform injections under the direction of a physician and supervising Registered Nurse.
  • Administer hands-on patient care under the supervision or direction of the supervising provider or Registered Nurse.
  • Ensure patient flow is timely and accurate throughout the clinic.
  • Review and document patient medications.
  • Check equipment daily to ensure accurate functioning.
  • Assist providers and medical assistants with emergency care of patients in the clinic.
  • Handle acute treatment or crisis intervention.
  • Participate as a member of the Patient Centered Medical Home care team.
  • Ensure all work complies with Occupational Safety and Health Administration and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act requirements.
  • Perform other duties as requested.
Desired Qualifications
  • Three years of ambulatory care experience.
  • Knowledge of Federally Qualified Health Centers.
