About the job
- Six years of experience as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist is required.
- Six months of hospital Microbiology experience is required for employees specializing in Microbiology.
- A current California license as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist is required.
- Analyze clinical laboratory specimens using standard methods and procedures.
- Perform test calibrations and run quality control materials at appropriate intervals; evaluate results to determine whether tests should be reported.
- Determine whether specimens are acceptable for testing according to established criteria.
- Evaluate the acceptability of analyses before releasing patient results.
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and laboratory equipment calibration.
- Accurately perform and record proficiency testing.
- Review monthly quality control and Levy-Jennings records as applicable.
- Review monthly log sheet results as applicable.
- Perform and review biannual correlation and linearity as applicable.
- Review and revise or update policies and procedures annually or as needed.
- Maintain inventory of the department's supplies and reagents.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Three years of hospital Blood Bank experience is preferred.
- Previous supervisory experience is preferred.
