Requirements
  • Read and understand wiring diagrams, perform resistance checks, and measure voltage drops.
  • Check and adjust all fluid levels as needed.
  • Perform tire pressure monitoring system service and repairs.
  • Repair and rebuild engines.
  • Perform steering and suspension repairs and system diagnosis.
  • Service, repair, and maintain air and hydraulic brake systems, including anti-lock braking systems.
  • Service, maintain, and repair HVAC systems using R-134a and R-1234yf refrigerants.
  • Have five or more years of experience in the diesel industry.
  • Complete federal Employment Eligibility Verification and provide acceptable original documents proving identity and authorization to work in the United States.
  • Pass a criminal history background check.
  • Submit transcripts after completing the application.
Responsibilities
  • Deliver approved curriculum, content, and assessments in an applied learning environment.
  • Facilitate activities and discussions that engage diverse learning styles, providing targeted guidance and mentorship to students.
  • Interpret and administer assessments and provide constructive feedback to support student growth and learning outcomes.
  • Integrate technology effectively to enrich educational experiences.
  • Act as an ambassador for the program and Texas State Technical College.
  • Prepare and deliver high-quality instruction and facilitate student learning.
  • Develop course syllabi and instructional plans and organize daily classes using creative and innovative techniques.
  • Fulfill the assigned schedule and maintain accurate student records.
  • Maintain an instructional environment emphasizing safety and equipment security where applicable.
  • Ensure opportunities for student or participant evaluation.
  • Advise students by providing timely, accurate, and comprehensive information.
  • Collaborate with the Office of Student Success to provide current information about tutoring and retention programs.
  • Participate in program tours and recruitment events.
  • Assist in department and program planning for recruitment.
  • Maintain availability for evening, weekend, or summer assignments as appropriate.
  • Use teaching methods tailored to diverse learning styles and needs.
  • Create and use assessments to provide constructive feedback and guide learning.
  • Continually evaluate and improve teaching strategies.
  • Use technology to enhance learning experiences.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Hold manufacturer certifications.
  • Have experience repairing, troubleshooting, adjusting, overhauling, and maintaining mobile heavy-duty equipment used in construction, transportation, forestry, mining, oil and gas, material handling, landscaping, land clearing, farming, or similar activities.
  • Have supervisory or management experience.
  • Have teaching or team-leading experience.
  • Have seven or more years of truck or equipment maintenance experience.
