Requirements
  • Strong working knowledge of controls and automation systems.
  • Ability to read, support the development of, and interpret piping and instrumentation diagrams and control loops.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams, instrument datasheets, control panel schematics, and network and communication layouts.
  • Hands-on experience with programmable logic controller and human-machine interface programming; Rockwell/Allen-Bradley experience is preferred, along with basic circuit design and panel integration.
  • Familiarity with industrial communication protocols such as Modbus (TCP/IP and RTU), EtherNet/IP, and BACnet.
  • Experience with variable frequency drives and motor control systems.
  • Experience with instrumentation and different process inputs and voltages.
  • AutoCAD and control panel design experience, including the ability to develop and review 2D drawings.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and/or Controls Engineering from an accredited four-year program, or qualifying military leadership and/or technical work experience in lieu of a technical degree.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in technical writing and comprehensive documentation.
  • Two to five years of experience as a Controls/Automation Engineer for an equipment packager or systems integrator.
  • Ability to design, configure, program, install, and commission programmable logic controller, human-machine interface, and instrumentation and electrical equipment.
  • Ability to support projects in the field, including sitework when necessary.
  • Ability to work at a desk for 80% to 95% of the time and perform the described physical activities, including occasionally exerting up to 10 pounds of force.
  • Ability to work indoors and meet the visual acuity requirements for preparing and analyzing data, operating a computer terminal, and reading.
Responsibilities
  • Provide engineering, design, and programming services for the engineering group.
  • Participate in development, design, execution, and field support of controls designs for industrial and renewable solutions products and projects.
  • Develop controls design standards and practices for industrial products and projects.
  • Interpret and work from electrical drawings, including one-line diagrams, network layouts, and control panel schematics.
  • Support controls system design, including panel layouts, input/output design, and circuit development.
  • Create and review bills of materials.
  • Work with the design team to provide complete manufacturing drawings.
  • Work with engineering and project teams to execute the controls scope for projects.
  • Support field activities, including commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting.
  • Serve as the primary customer contact and respond to internal and customer technical inquiries related to controls systems.
  • Participate in project meetings as needed, including kickoff meetings and design reviews.
  • Document sequences of operation and system functionality.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to programmable logic controllers, human-machine interfaces, variable frequency drives, and communication networks.
  • Develop and modify programmable logic controller and human-machine interface programs for assigned projects as required.
  • Perform other assigned responsibilities.

Both segments showed strong backlogs: Mechanical reached $10.06 billion and Electrical $4 billion, each up roughly 73% year-over-year.
