About the job

Requirements
  • Hands-on experience building and deploying production GenAI or agentic AI solutions, such as large-language-model assistants, retrieval-augmented generation pipelines, or multi-agent orchestration.
  • Experience with large language models and prompt engineering, fine-tuning, or grounding techniques.
  • Familiarity with the Agent2Agent protocol and multi-agent orchestration patterns.
  • Working knowledge of cloud data, compute, and access-control services supporting AI workloads, such as BigQuery or Snowflake, Cloud Run or GKE, equivalent container platforms, and IAM.
  • Experience building retrieval-augmented generation pipelines and integrating large-language-model solutions with enterprise data sources.
  • Software engineering fundamentals sufficient to build production-quality, maintainable integrations using Python and/or relevant software development kits.
  • Experience building evaluation harnesses or test suites for large-language-model or agent outputs, including accuracy, groundedness, and hallucination rate, and running regression tests before releases.
  • Ability to work from a scoped backlog and translate technical requirements into working solutions.
Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and deploy agentic assistants and GenAI applications on the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform, including Agent Builder, Workspace Studio, and Model Garden, by translating backlog items into working solutions.
  • Implement retrieval-augmented generation pipelines and grounding using the platform’s search and grounding capabilities.
  • Integrate the Agent2Agent protocol and multi-agent orchestration patterns where engagements require them.
  • Evaluate and select foundation models from Model Garden, including Gemini and third-party models, based on client use case, cost, and performance requirements.
  • Fine-tune or prompt-engineer models to meet accuracy, safety, and compliance requirements for higher-education and SLED data.
  • Monitor model performance and iterate based on client feedback and delivery retrospectives.
  • Build and maintain evaluation harnesses and regression test sets to validate agent accuracy, grounding, and hallucination rates before release, with additional rigor for student-facing and FERPA-sensitive use cases.
  • Build live application programming interface and tool-calling integrations so agentic solutions can take real-time actions in client systems such as student information systems, enterprise resource planning systems, and casework systems.
  • Partner with the Data Engineer on shared data-access patterns and with the AgentOps Engineer on infrastructure.
  • Maintain technical documentation of solution architecture, model configurations, and integration points for internal reuse.
  • Build reusable solutions across engagements by converting one-off client work into repeatable playbooks and connectors.
  • Execute against the delivery backlog, provide technical estimates, flag build risks, and deliver working solutions on schedule.
  • Participate in technical discovery sessions to validate feasibility before client commitments are made.
  • Conduct code and configuration reviews to maintain quality and security standards.
  • Serve as the quality gate in release readiness by confirming evaluation and regression test results before builds move to production, alongside the AgentOps Engineer’s operational-readiness sign-off.
  • Partner with the Data Engineer to ensure data pipelines and classification support agentic solution requirements.
  • Partner with the AgentOps Engineer on deployment, monitoring, and environment management.
  • Provide technical input to the Forward Deployed Engineer and Engagement Manager on scope, risk, and timeline.
Desired Qualifications
  • Direct experience with the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform, including Agent Builder, Model Garden, and Workspace Studio, or its predecessor Vertex AI.
  • Deep GenAI experience on other platforms such as AWS Bedrock, Azure AI Foundry, or OpenAI or Anthropic application programming interfaces.
  • Direct experience with Gemini models, including the Gemini application programming interface or Gemini Enterprise.
  • Google Cloud certification, preferably Professional Machine Learning Engineer or Professional Cloud Architect.
