Requirements
- A current and valid FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate is required.
- Hands-on experience with mechanical and/or electrical systems is required; aviation, automotive, robotics, or industrial backgrounds are considered.
- Ability to accurately follow and execute written standard operating procedures in a safety-critical environment is required.
- Ability to coordinate clearly between a remote operations team and on-site merchant partners is required.
- Ability to work outdoors, remain on one's feet, and work variable shifts including early mornings and weekends is required.
- Ability to comply with the Company's FAA/DOT-mandated drug and alcohol testing program is required.
- Must be based in or able to work on-site in Los Angeles, California.
- Ability to stand and walk for most of a shift, often on outdoor and uneven surfaces, is required.
- Ability to frequently lift, carry, and position aircraft, batteries, payloads, and ground equipment weighing up to approximately 50 pounds, and occasionally more with assistance, is required.
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach to inspect aircraft, load payloads, and service ground equipment is required.
- Ability to use hand tools and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity and fine motor control is required.
- Sufficient near and distance visual acuity and hearing to inspect aircraft, monitor operations, and communicate on-site and by radio are required.
- Ability to communicate clearly and exchange accurate information verbally and in writing with the Air Operations team and merchant partners is required.
- Ability to work safely around aircraft, moving rotors, charging systems, and ground support equipment, and tolerate outdoor weather conditions, is required.
- The position is subject to DOT/FAA drug and alcohol testing, including pre-employment and random testing; federal law requires review of the applicant's DOT drug and alcohol testing history before hire.
Responsibilities
- Support the launch of new operations sites, including onboarding new customers and enrolling them in the delivery program.
- Conduct pre- and post-flight aircraft inspections according to approved procedures and maintain accurate airworthiness and maintenance records.
- Prepare and load payloads for each flight, verifying order accuracy and packaging integrity at handoff from merchant partners.
- Operate and service ground equipment and charging systems.
- Serve as the on-site liaison between the remote operations center and partner restaurants and shops, coordinating flight schedules, communicating delays, and resolving ground-level issues in real time.
- Troubleshoot and document mechanical and electrical discrepancies and escalate faults through the proper maintenance release process.
- Enforce site safety protocols, manage non-crew personnel around the aircraft, and report occurrences through the Safety Management System.
- Complete Operator certification and required recurrent training to maintain active status.
- Work from Ground Control Stations and active delivery sites in and around Northridge, Los Angeles, California; work is predominantly outdoors in sun, heat, wind, cold, and noise.
- Travel between local operating sites and support new route validation.
Desired Qualifications
- Multi-rotor UAS operating experience beyond Part 107 certification is preferred.
- Experience in a Part 135, Part 145, or other FAA-regulated operating environment is preferred.
- Experience authoring or revising controlled documents such as standard operating procedures, maintenance procedures, and inspection checklists is preferred.
- A manned aviation background, such as student pilot, Private Pilot License, Commercial Pilot License, or military flight experience, is preferred.
