Responsibilities
Prepare detailed engineering drawings, primarily using AutoCAD Civil 3D and related applications, for a variety of land development and capital works projects.
Provide input to Project Managers for the preparation of fee proposals.
Prepare and review design calculations in accordance with current standards.
Interpret topographic information required for design.
Perform site and lot grading and earthworks balancing or optimization.
Prepare quantity take-offs and cost estimates.
Prepare reports, letters, memos, and other project correspondence.
Answer technical enquiries during project construction.
Provide some direction and mentoring to junior members of the design team.
Compile as-built records for design and record drawings.
Prepare contract documents for project tendering and execute project design drawings.
Administer contracts during the construction phase.
Desired Qualifications
Knowledge of tender preparation and construction administration experience are preferred.

Position Overview: The Design Engineer will have direct involvement with the detailed design process to ensure completion of the design objectives, approvals and all necessary documents required. The Design Engineer will assume responsibilities from the conceptual level through to detailed issuance for construction drawings and be involved in the tendering and construction administration of the project.

Skills and Qualifications:
Minimum 2 years of local experience in design of land development or capital works projects.
Registered as an EIT or P.Eng. within the province of work.
Valid Driver’s License.
Ability to work simultaneously on several different projects.
Consistently able to produce accurate, high-quality work.
Comfortable carrying out design work with limited supervision.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Knowledgeable of technical design issues, constructability, cost, and design approvals.
Knowledgeable of tender preparation with construction administration experience preferred.
Compensation The salary range for this position is $86,000 to $93,000 per year, commensurate with experience, skillsets, and qualifications.
