Requirements
  • At least 1 year of dental back-office lead or supervisory experience.
  • Nevada X-ray certification or affidavit.
  • Basic Life Support certification.
  • 4-hour Infection Control certification.
Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical support while leading the dental assisting team day to day.
  • Mentor and train dental assistants and supervise new and current back-office employees.
  • Review charts daily in Open Dental and ensure assistants complete chart information accurately.
  • Resolve daily audits by facilitating corrections or documenting responsible team members and resolutions.
  • Perform delegated scheduling, staffing, days-off coordination, overtime monitoring, and hours-tracking functions in the Practice Manager’s absence.
  • Work consistently with the Practice Manager to facilitate back-office staff scheduling.
  • Review, enforce, and apply the employee manual and policy notices, escalating issues when necessary.
  • Maintain office flow, patient wait times of no more than 15 minutes, and total back-office chair time of no more than 1 hour.
  • Use downtime to recover operatories, open bays, and sterilization areas.
  • Schedule and track externship and new-employee hours, complete evaluations, conduct evaluation reviews with instructors, and support intern training.
  • Perform and oversee new-employee training.
  • Coordinate routine inventory checks and orders using the standard Master Price List and communicate with the Procurement Team.
  • Coordinate OSHA responsibilities with Human Resources and the Practice Manager; maintain required logs, postings, deadlines, and updates and ensure standards are met across offices.
Desired Qualifications
  • Certification from a dental college, three to six months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Bilingual ability in Spanish.
