  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Drafting/Design, or related field*(Associate degree with strong experience also accepted)
  • 3+ years of experience in data center, telecom, mission-critical, or commercial building design.
  • Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD (Revit highly preferred).
  • Strong understanding of data center equipment and infrastructure such as: Racks, PDUs, busways; CRAH/CRAC units, cooling systems; UPS, generators, electrical distribution
  • Ability to read and interpret: Architectural plans; Mechanical and electrical drawings; Equipment cut sheets
  • Familiarity with industry standards: Uptime Institute Tier Levels; TIA-942; ASHRAE TC 9.9
Responsibilities
  • Develop detailed floor plans, equipment layouts, rack elevations, containment systems, and white space designs.
  • Create and update construction documents (CDs) in Revit, AutoCAD, and BIM platforms.
  • Produce 3D models, visualizations, and design renderings.
  • Develop documentation for data hall expansions, new builds, and retrofits.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, structural, and network engineering teams.
  • Support BIM coordination and clash detection workflows.
  • Interpret and integrate vendor cut sheets, equipment requirements, and engineering specifications.
  • Ensure designs comply with Uptime Institute, TIA-942, ASHRAE, NEC, IBC, and NFPA guidelines.
  • Assist in developing scopes of work, design narratives, and basis-of-design documents.
  • Participate in design review meetings and coordinate updates across internal teams.
  • Provide support during construction, responding to RFIs and field clarification requests.
  • Maintain accurate records of design iterations, revisions, and drawing sets.
  • Incorporate airflow, cooling, electrical distribution, and redundancy strategies into layouts.
  • Ensure proper server rack spacing, hot/cold aisle containment, and cable pathway planning.
  • Support energy-efficiency and PUE optimization efforts.
