Broadcom (AVGO) stock gains momentum as ARK Invest accumulates before Q3 earnings.

Broadcom (AVGO) stock gains momentum as ARK Invest accumulates before Q3 earnings. Key takeaways. Table of Contents * Broadcom's fiscal Q3 FY26 earnings release is scheduled for September 2, with analysts forecasting EPS of $3.22, representing a 90.5% increase versus last year. * Cody Acree from Benchmark maintains a Buy rating with a $545 price objective on AVGO stock. * Year-to-date gains for AVGO stand at just 7%, positioning it at the lower end of AI semiconductor peer valuations. * Cathie Wood's ARK Invest purchased 55,131 shares of AVGO on August 28, representing an investment exceeding $20 million. * Analyst consensus reflects a Strong Buy rating with a mean price objective of $512.36, suggesting potential upside of 39%. As Broadcom prepares to unveil its third-quarter fiscal 2026 financial results on September 2, market analysts have established notably optimistic projections for the semiconductor giant's performance. Shares of AVGO are currently changing hands at $368.62, reflecting a modest 7% advance since the beginning of the year. This muted performance follows a challenging period that saw the stock tumble 13% in the aftermath of its Q2 FY26 earnings announcement. While those quarterly results demonstrated solid fundamentals, they fell short of the heightened artificial intelligence-driven expectations that had accumulated among institutional investors. Ahead of the upcoming earnings event, Benchmark's Cody Acree has reaffirmed his Buy stance on AVGO while maintaining his $545 price objective. According to Acree, the recent price decline has established a more attractive valuation for prospective investors. Within the TipRanks analyst ranking system, Acree holds the No. 63 position among over 12,499 tracked analysts, boasting a 68% accuracy rate and delivering average returns of 33.40% per recommendation across a one-year timeframe. Financial expectations for Q3. Consensus estimates from the analyst community point to Q3 FY26 earnings per share of $3.22, marking a substantial 90.5% year-over-year expansion. Revenue projections stand at $29.24 billion, reflecting an 83.3% increase compared to the comparable quarter in the prior year. Acree's individual forecasts run slightly above consensus figures. His models anticipate revenue reaching $29.403 billion alongside EPS of $3.24 for the third quarter, both edging past Street expectations. Looking toward Q4 FY26 guidance, Acree anticipates Broadcom will project revenue of $34.902 billion with EPS of $3.89. His analysis suggests market participants will place greater emphasis on the fourth-quarter outlook rather than minor variations in Q3 actual results. Regarding AI chip production, Acree highlighted management's expectation for approximately 10 gigawatts in FY27 shipments, with commitments for the 2026-27 timeframe already locked in and strategic planning advancing for the 2028-29 period. Google continues to represent the largest volume customer for Broadcom's custom XPU solutions, though Acree indicated that Anthropic, OpenAI, and Meta Platforms are projected to contribute additional demand growth. The company is also engaged with two other undisclosed customers. Market competition dynamics. Acree acknowledged certain competitive headwinds facing the company. MediaTek is anticipated to serve as a secondary supplier in select initiatives, while Marvell has introduced new inference and TPU attachment solutions that could potentially erode portions of AVGO's market position. Nevertheless, Acree maintains these developments do not constitute immediate threats to Broadcom's primary high-performance TPU partnerships. He referenced the company's April strategic agreement with Google, which encompasses multiple future TPU generations and AI networking infrastructure extending through 2031, as a critical foundation supporting long-term business stability. Google's strategic initiatives to broaden its chip supplier base were characterized as a "share-of-growth" consideration rather than a fundamental challenge to AVGO's established TPU operations. From an institutional investment perspective, ARK Invest acquired 55,131 AVGO shares on August 28, representing approximately $20.48 million in capital deployment. This transaction followed a comparable purchase earlier that week, occurring simultaneously as ARK liquidated its AMD holdings. The Wall Street analyst community maintains a Strong Buy consensus rating on AVGO, accompanied by an average price target of $512.36, implying approximately 39% appreciation potential from present trading levels. Marvell slides 10% despite Q2 beat as investors question $18B fiscal 2028 guidance and Google deal impact

Marvell Technology shares fell 10% to $216.62 after the company reported fiscal second-quarter results that beat estimates. Investors focused on softer fiscal 2028 guidance and limited details about a newly announced deal with Google. The semiconductor firm raised its 2027 revenue guidance to $12 billion and 2028 guidance to $18 billion, compared to $9.5 billion over the past 12 months. Sales and earnings per share rose 37% and 50%, respectively. Analysts had expected more potential upside in management's outlook following the Google deal announcement. Marvell plans to discuss the partnership's impact on earnings at its investor day in October. The stock trades at 53 times forward earnings. Trading volume reached 47.7 million shares, 18% above its three-month average.

Marvell shares drop 6% despite beating estimates as investors seek bigger AI upside

Marvell Technology shares fell nearly 6% on Friday, dragging down other AI-related stocks including Nvidia, Intel, and AMD, which each slipped less than 1%. The semiconductor company posted quarterly revenue of $2.74 billion and adjusted earnings of 94 cents per share, narrowly beating analyst estimates of $2.71 billion and 93 cents. Investors appeared disappointed by the modest beat, particularly given increased AI hardware spending from major tech companies and Marvell's custom chip deal with Google parent Alphabet. Jefferies analysts noted the lack of substantial upside from the Google partnership in Marvell's projections. Chief executive Matt Murphy said AI demand remains "exceptionally robust", prompting the company to raise its revenue forecasts. Despite Friday's decline, Marvell shares remain up over 160% year-to-date.

Goldman Sachs warns Marvell's 185% rally has priced in AI chip gains despite earnings beat

Goldman Sachs maintained a neutral rating on Marvell Technology with a $195 price target, warning the AI chipmaker's 185% rally in 2026 has priced in most positive developments. Analyst James Schneider said shares could remain range-bound despite Marvell beating expectations with second-quarter revenue of $2.74 billion, up 37% year-over-year, and earnings of $0.94 per share. The firm wants clearer evidence that Marvell's custom compute business can accelerate meaningfully in the second half of fiscal 2027. Goldman is particularly focused on details about expanded partnerships with Google and Microsoft ASIC revenue ramps. Third-quarter revenue guidance of $3.15 billion exceeded analyst estimates of $3.04 billion, but Goldman suggests investors should focus on long-term data centre forecasts rather than quarterly beats.

Morgan Stanley raises Marvell price target to $246 on 60% data-centre growth outlook

Morgan Stanley raised its Marvell Technology price target to $246 from $224 following the chipmaker's earnings report, though maintained an Equalweight rating. The firm noted Marvell increased its calendar 2027 data-centre growth outlook to 60% from 50%. Marvell reported record fiscal second-quarter revenue of $2.74 billion, up 37% year over year, with adjusted earnings of $0.94 per share. Management expects fiscal third-quarter revenue of approximately $3.15 billion, plus or minus 5%. Despite strong results, shares fell in premarket trading as investors weighed growth prospects against valuation concerns. The company supplies semiconductor infrastructure for cloud and AI data centres, positioning it as a beneficiary of AI infrastructure expansion. Marvell's investor day is scheduled for 6 October.
