Requirements
  • A technical degree in Mechanics, Electricity, or Refrigeration with 1–3 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience providing the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Ability to maintain records of activities.
  • Ability to work extra hours, at night or on weekends, and irregular shifts.
  • Ability to respond to emergency calls.
  • Ability to work inside, near moving mechanical parts, in wet or humid conditions, around fumes, and in areas with electrical-shock risk.
  • Ability to work on ladders, in high places, and in small spaces such as lift or metering stations, manholes, tanks, and wet wells.
  • Ability to use hands to operate equipment, tools, and controls; stand, walk, talk, hear, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and smell; and lift or move up to 25–35 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities including close, distance, and color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Responsibilities
  • Perform routine tasks relative to equipment operations as directed.
  • Assist the Plant Operator in operating plant controls as instructed.
  • Perform minor preventive maintenance of designated systems.
  • Assist in maintaining records of equipment operations.
  • Perform required tests on boiler water, circulating water, closed cooling water, and related systems.
  • Make adjustments and add required chemicals to maintain water systems within guidelines.
  • Maintain logs of water treatment systems.
  • Keep the work area clean, neat, and orderly.
  • Operate the demineralizer and associated equipment.
  • Line up, start, stop, and secure equipment as required by the Plant Operator.
  • Operate critical and non-critical utility equipment to assure continuous operation on a 24/7 schedule.
  • Support other departments or projects according to business needs.
  • Follow company safety and current Good Manufacturing Practice policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as required by the supervisor to support normal departmental operations.
Desired Qualifications
  • An associate degree is preferred.
