About the company

Promise Robotics builds intelligent, compact industrial robots and a cloud platform to automate construction tasks. The robots handle on-site and factory-floor work, while the cloud software manages planning, scheduling, and logistics across the production lifecycle. The company differentiates itself by specializing in construction automation with lifecycle management in the cloud and offering a software-as-a-service model. Its goal is to scale automated home production, boost efficiency and sustainability, and help builders grow their operations without managing digital manufacturing on their own.

What believers are saying

  • Promise Robotics raised $25M+ by July 2026, financing factory scaling and hiring.
  • Calgary full-scale production on October 29, 2025, expands capacity toward one-million-square-feet output.
  • North American housing shortages keep builders hunting labor-saving automation through 2026.

What critics are saying

  • Mattamy concentration creates customer leverage; one failed Alberta deployment damages 2026 sales.
  • Prefab economics depend on permits, logistics, and QA; Calgary delays can stall expansion.
  • Robotics homebuilding faces Aggressive competitors like Mighty Buildings and BOLD2025, compressing margins fast.

What makes Promise Robotics unique

  • Factory-as-a-Service turns off-the-shelf robots into homebuilding lines, not bespoke hardware.
  • Calgary facility launched October 29, 2025, proving integrated AI planning through installation.
  • Mattamy Homes Alberta chose Promise Robotics on September 24, 2025, validating builder demand.

Promise Robotics partners with D.R. Horton to deploy physical AI micro-factories for homebuilding.

Promise Robotics partners with D.R. Horton to deploy physical AI micro-factories for homebuilding. Promise Robotics has signed a multi-year agreement with D.R. Horton, which will use its Factory-as-a-Service capabilities to produce more than 1,250 homes in the U.S. The Toronto-based company, founded in 2021, has integrated robotics, AI, software and manufacturing systems to connect the homebuilding workflow, from design translation and production planning through automated manufacturing and onsite installation. The construction industry is fragmented and has been relatively conservative about adopting new technologies. As construction firms navigate persistent housing demand, labor shortages, rising costs and pressure to increase output, they are searching for more repeatable and scalable ways to expand production. Ramtin Attar, Co-founder and CEO of Promise Robotics, stated: "Homebuilding has long lacked the production infrastructure needed to scale with the speed, predictability, and efficiency of modern manufacturing. Physical AI changes that by creating a new production model that can expand capacity within and across markets. Our goal is to make that capability accessible to builders across North America and support the industry's long-term growth." Promise Robotics' Factory-as-a-Service model enables homebuilders to access advanced production infrastructure without the cost, complexity or risk of developing and operating it themselves. The company's software can improve over time, allowing for reduced expenses. It is currently working with its own cloud-based simulations and KUKA industrial robot arms, but it is robot-agnostic. Attar explained that the company takes a distributed manufacturing approach using microfactories. "We have a pretty deep tech stack, incorporating computer vision, LLMs for initial prep of data flows, and a reasoning model that's domain-specific," he said. "For every home we build, we produce 300 new images, 5,000 new tactile sources, and a lot of processes. We're very data rich, and that's why we present ourselves as a physical AI infrastructure and not just a technology." The company can build a two-family home with two stories, a basement and a garage in one day, not including electronics, window installations and plumbing. That process typically takes two to three weeks. Promise Robotics is setting up its initial FaaS facilities in Edmonton and Calgary in Canada and Phoenix, with its own crews operating the systems for a tight feedback loop. Brad Conlon, Senior Vice President for Strategic Growth and Innovation at D.R. Horton, stated: "At D.R. Horton, we are always looking for innovations that can help us improve how we build. We are continuously focused on improving cycle times, increasing production capacity, and bringing greater consistency and predictability to our operations. Promise Robotics' integrated platform gives us a new capability to support those goals." D.R. Horton, America's largest homebuilder by volume, is the first major U.S. homebuilder to use Promise Robotics' platform. Promise Robotics said its technology interprets existing home designs, generates production plans and robotic instructions, orchestrates manufacturing, and connects that production with site installation.

D.R. Horton signs multi-year deal with Promise Robotics for 1,250+ robot-built homes

Promise Robotics has signed a multi-year agreement with D.R. Horton, America's largest homebuilder by volume. D.R. Horton will use the company's Factory-as-a-Service (FaaS) platform to support production of more than 1,250 homes, making it the first major US homebuilder to do so. FaaS turns existing home designs into a coordinated process that spans robotic manufacturing, factory operations, and onsite installation. Builders get automated production capacity without building or running their own factories. "Homebuilding has long lacked the production infrastructure needed to scale," said Ramtin Attar, chief executive officer and co-founder of Promise Robotics. The Phoenix-based company is expanding its US manufacturing network. D.R. Horton aims to improve cycle times, increase capacity, and make its operations more predictable.

Promise Robotics strikes deal to supply largest US homebuilder DR Horton.

Promise Robotics strikes deal to supply largest US homebuilder DR Horton. Toronto AI homebuilding startup to open its third factory in Phoenix, Arizona. Toronto-based construction tech startup Promise Robotics is ready to grow south of the border after landing its first United States (US) customer: DR Horton, the nation's largest homebuilder in terms of volume. Through the multi-year commercial agreement, DR Horton will leverage Promise's tech and "factory-as-a-service" capabilities to support the production of more than 1,250 largely single-story, single-family homes for buyers in the Phoenix, Arizona area. Promise co-founder and CEO Ramtin Attar told BetaKit in an interview that a deal like this "requires quite a bit of trust." He said the deal emphasizes the power of the startup's platform, which aims to help developers build homes faster and more cheaply than traditional construction methods. "That a company at that scale is able to look at what we have done and say, 'We're ready to work with you,' that, to me, is very significant," Attar added. Promise announced the deal today, also revealing it intends to open a 16,000-square-foot factory in Phoenix. There, its AI-powered robots will assemble the components necessary to construct these houses in what marks the start of its broader US expansion. "This is our go-to-market facility in [the] US," Attar said. The hub, which will be Promise's first outside of Canada and the company's third of its kind after Calgary and Edmonton, is expected to begin manufacturing in early 2027. "I was actually talking to an investor the other day who said, 'I really love your odds. If you can build in the frost in Calgary, Phoenix is going to be pretty darn simple,' and that's exactly the case," Attar said. While the US housing market is very different from Canada's, Attar said it faces similar challenges, from labour shortages to rising costs, and pressure to build more homes faster. Promise uses AI to interpret existing home designs, generate production plans and robotic instructions, orchestrate manufacturing, and connect that production with site installation as part of one integrated platform. The company equips off-the-shelf robots with its own tooling and software to produce everything from repeatable modular housing to custom builds. "We are continuously focused on improving cycle times, increasing production capacity, and bringing greater consistency and predictability to our operations," DR Horton senior vice president of strategic innovation Brad Conlon said in a statement. "Promise Robotics' integrated platform gives us a new capability to support those goals." Attar claimed Promise, which is now contracted to build just over 2,500 homes for several different homebuilders, has completed over 200 builds to date for a group that includes Brookfield, Hopewell, and Mattamy. "These are real market homes that people are living in," the Autodesk alumnus said. Promise's factories are currently capable of producing many of the core components that make a house, from the interior and exterior walls to the flooring, stairs, and roof. The 80-person startup is working to add heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, and plumbing, followed by drywall, insulation, and more over time as it looks to grow to 100 employees by the end of 2026.
