Kansas Judicial Branch

Kansas state trial and appellate court system

Kansas Judicial Branch is the state court system for people and businesses seeking to resolve legal disputes under Kansas law. It includes district courts, the Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court, which has general administrative authority over the state's courts. The Office of Judicial Administration carries out Supreme Court policies and handles legal, financial, technology and administrative support for court operations. Its work also includes public court forms and legal self-help materials designed to make the court system easier to use. The branch's constitutional roots date to Kansas statehood in 1861, when the state Supreme Court was established.
